Preterit questions: Irregular, Stem change and I-Y spelling change verbs
Part 1: Conjugation practice
*Irregular preterit verbs (I, U, J STEM) : For each infinitive write the irregular stem using the word bank provided.
Irregular preterit verbs (Dar, Ir, Ser, Ver)
*Complete the table with the correct conjugation using the word bank. (All 6 conjugations included)
I-Y preterit verbs (write the preterit conjugation for all 6 persons for 2 infinitives)
IR stem change preterit verbs (write the preterit conjugation for all 6 persons for 2 infinitives)
Answer each question in a complete sentence in the preterit by providing the information required. Do not answer any question with a yes or no.
*30 questions total (Combination of Irregular, -IR stem change, and I-Y spelling change verbs).
Answer key is included on pages 5-6 for part 1 only. For part 2, student answers will vary.
*Students can answer the questions orally in pairs . They can also be assigned for classwork, homework, review, or sub plans.
In this activity, students will be given 20 sentences in the preterite and imperfect tenses. They will have to choose the appropriate clue word (anoche, cada tarde etc) to match the clue word with the sentence. Next to each sentence, students will have to write P if the sentence is preterite or I if it is imperfect. This is a good review activity before a test or quiz and can also be used as an entry / exit slip.

For this worksheet, students will be given 11 different question words and verbs which they will use to create their own original information questions using different subjects of their choice and answer them in the present tense. A template is provided for the students to use for all questions. Students also have to fill in the question answer chart as a way to help them answer their questions. This is a good practice on how to form and answer questions in Spanish.
For this assignment, students will be given 5 regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs along with subjects, additional words, and preterit clue words like ayer, anoche etc. . They will have to combine these elements and add additional words to create an original sentence of 9 words minimum for all the 15 verbs. This is a good classwork or homework assignment as students are being introduced to the preterit tense.
For this activity, students will be given 5 regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs with different subjects and words and they will have to combine the elements from column a, b, c and add additional words to create an 8 word sentence for all the 15 verbs given. This is a good activity for Spanish 1 students.
A two page worksheet on -car, -gar, and -zar spelling change verbs in the preterit. Section 1: Complete the verb conjugation chart with the 15 infinitives given. Section 2: Answer the 14 personal questions in a complete sentence in the preterit.
