Pupils could use the data to draw a line graph/bar chart etc.
There are also questions that pupils must answer linked to the data.
This activity links closely to the cross curricular theme - Amazon Rainforest.

Maths Snakes and Ladders
A perfect resource to use to liven up a Maths lesson.
This resource is perfect in a Year 5/6 class.
I created this resource to use with my Year 6 class for revision. Many of the questions are past SATs questions. Not every number is a question: there are rewards hidden too, including: 5 mins extra break, £2 school money reward.
This resource will only work when using Activ Inspire program (free to download online)
King's Coronation Orienteering Game
King’s Coronation Orienteering Game
This game will last approx 30 minutes depending on the speed and team work of your pupils. Can be set up inside a school hall or outside on a playground or school field. You may wish to laminate the ppt pages once printed.
How to play:
Pupils can play either individually, in pairs or small teams.
Give pupils a starting answer (left words) and they write this down on their sheet of paper (clipboards optional). Give these randomly to avoid pupils following each other round.
Pupils find their starting word on the left hand side and look to the right for their next clue word. Remind them that it is a race so they may want to run.
Once answer word is found they need to write this down then look to the right hand side for their next clue word.
You may wish to get pupils to come back to check their answer order with you every 5 words or so to ensure they are doing it correctly.
Pupils have completed the game if they complete the list of 35 words in the SAME order as the answer sheet (1st slide of ppt). There is only one correct order and it will work for all pupils/teams.
Titanic Theme Music with sound effects
I created this piece of music to use with my year 2 class during their study of the Titanic. We used the music in PE to create an interpretive dance to. They absolutely loved it, especially the boys!
The piece of music goes through the journey of the Titanic, from it setting sail and crowds wishing the passengers luck, to the fun on the ship including the Irish party, then the Titanic seeing and hitting the iceberg and finally to the disaster of it sinking. All created using sound effects and music.

Orienteering Clues with maths link
cross curricular orienteering clues - 2D and 3D shapes
10 orienteering clues for OAA PE lessons with 10 flags and score cards for teams of 2.
I laminated the flags, hole punched, attached string then dotted them around the school field attached to the fence, trees and other objects. I then paper clipped the shape clues to the flags. I gave each pair of children a different shape which they then had to find the properties for and the number of the flag that the clues were attached to.
Aimed at KS2.
Year 5 and 6 Spellings Practice
Years 5 and 6 spellings split up in to weeks for the full year. Spelling practice sheets attached for pupils to use look, say, cover, write, check for each day of the week when handed out on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Spelling practice sheet also includes the opportunity for pupils to practice writing two of their spellings each week in a sentence that makes sense.
The sheets could be printed out and made in to an A3 or A5 booklet for each child for the whole year, or printed out and handed out individually each week.
Created to fit with the school holiday dates for Lancashire but will be easy to adapt for your area.
Blank spelling practice sheet included.
SLOW writing activity
SLOW writing enables pupils to practice the skills they have learnt by using them in their writing.
Pupils cannot move on to the next sentence unless that sentence contains the prescribed objective.
This SLOW write activity allows pupils to add three of their sentence types/objectives that they must also include in their writing.
SLOW write is helping the children in my class produce excellent pieces of writing and they love using it because they are realising that they can do it and it isn't difficult.
I hope you find this resource of SLOW writing useful.
As an NQT I would really appreciate feedback on this resource!
Thanks.
London Marathon Maths Lesson
Long multiplication lesson suitable for years 4,5 and 6.
The flipchart slides include a maths starter, teaching slides, main activity, challenge and plenary.
The main activity is to work out the total running time for different running paces between 14 to 3 mins per mile. This includes multiplying decimals by up to two digits.
Challenge: 3km is a good distance to run. This is the same as 1.9 miles. Calculate the total time for each of the paces.
Maths calculating time intervals with Amazon rainforest link
Links to cross curricular theme - Amazon rainforest.
This is a challenging maths activity where pupils have to calculate how long the journey takes from Manchester airport to Manaus airport in the Amazon rainforest.
Pupils will have to calculate up to 3 different flights per journey and include any layover or connection times in their final total journey time answer.
On the activity worksheet, there are six different journeys all with the same destination. Pupils could be further challenged by calculating which journey is the quickest/slowest and order them.
The flight times have been taken from the internet and were accurate on 22nd April 2017.
We have been reading Journey to the River Sea in class and Maia (main character) in the book travels from England to Manaus, so this activity is a great link.
Thesaurus Challenge
Classroom activity that will help pupils to develop a wider vocabulary and understanding of vocabulary.
Print out on to A3, laminate and place on SPaG display for pupils to add to during the week.
