I made a crazy video about hydrolysing water with a hofmann voltameter Note: the youtube version is free. I only put a price on the download because you have to do that for the resource to appear on TES pages.

Electronic configuration and atomic structure Drag & Drop

(0)
A Drag & Drop exercise for building up the electronic structure of atoms. After a short cartoon for building up an atom of calcium, students build up four atoms by drag and drop. Could be used projected on the whiteboard or by students individually at computers. Double click on the full atomic structure.html file and it will open in your browser. I made it big for projection, but it can be made smaller by zooming out using the browser zoom control. A preview is available on my web site Please note: in order to provide a rich interactive experience, my drag & drop resources are mini-web sites local to your computer. After unzipping, they comprise a folder containing the main .html file and another folder containing the graphic resources and my coding to make the resource work. Double click on the .html file and the resource will work. If, however , you move or delete any of the files from this hierarchy, the resource will not work.

Preparing for a lesson with a student on waves, I was searching for diagrams to illustrate it. The internet is awash with suitable diagrams, but they all seem to be low-resolution bitmaps. Being a vector graphic fanatic, I made some high quality graphics of my own. I offer them in pdf, keynote and powerpoint formats. If you would like the editable svg files, get in touch with me via my web site

A simple simulation of the experiment. Unzip the file. Open the folder. Double click on ‘spring stretch version 4.html’ and it opens in your browser. Add the masses by clicking the buttons, and watch the spring stretch. Use a ruler to measure the extension. (The anomaly on the graph at 3N is probably due to a draught of warm air expanding the spring as a door was opened). Enjoy! A preview is availableon my web site. I made a wacky interactive widget thingy to illustrate the gas laws. Change the property with the slider and it draws the graph. Just for fun really. A preview may be seen on my web site. Just three diagrams for students to label. I have left the teacher to specify which labels are required. I hope it is of use to somebody , somewhere.
