A fun multiplication board game to reinforce knowledge of facts. Great as a math rotation activity, follow-up activity, early finisher task, etc. Included: ♦ 12 black/white game boards (x1 – x12) ♦ 12 colour game boards (x1 – x12) ♦ 2 bonus activity sheets – multiplication grids Refer to the images above to see examples. How to Play: A game for 2 players. Player A rolls the dice and multiplies the number with the game board number (whatever is written in the robot’s feet). Player A finds that number on the game board and covers it with one of their counters. Players can only cover one number each time. Player B then has a turn. The first player to get 4 of their counters in a row is the winner. The row may be vertical, horizontal or diagonal. Equipment Needed: ♦ one game board ♦ some counters (different colour to your opponent) ♦ one 10-sided dice (numbered 1-10) If you don’t have any 10-sided dice: If you don’t have any 10-sided dice, you can write 1-10 on some counters/card and place them in a container. Simply ‘pull a number out of the hat’ when it is your turn. Alternatively, you could use the Ace-10 in a pack of playing cards. Children love mystery and being a detective! Your students will have so much fun making and using these secret code wheels during the Christmas season. This template has the alphabet on the outer wheel and symbols on the inner wheel. See below for other options. Instructions: 1. Colour the picture on the inner wheel. 2. Cut both of the wheels out. 3. Join the wheels together by using a split pin (otherwise known as a brad pin). 4. Use your code wheel to find out the answers to the jokes that are written in code. 5. Mystery Sight Words! Students work out the starting letter of each image and place an alphabet manipulative underneath it to work out the secret word. A great hands-on activity that supports both reading and spelling of high frequency words. Use alphabet manipulatives such as magnetic letters or letters written on milk bottle lids. Alternatively your students could ‘write and wipe’ the letters with a whiteboard marker (laminate first). Discover the mystery sight words by reading them in a mirror. Simply place the word card on the table in front of you and hold a mirror on the line at the top of the card. Look into the mirror and read the word. (Optional: write the word on the worksheet). This is a super-fun, hands-on activity that will keep your students engaged during literacy time. The letter shapes are the same as those recommended in the NZ Ministry of Education Handbook – ‘Teaching Handwriting’. 14mm lines with a 7mm dashed line. The pages can be made into a workbook if you wish. A slightly larger left margin has been used to allow for stapling and two choices of title page are provided. Made on A4 size paper. These activity sheets are for sight words at the Yellow and Blue level. A total of 68 activity sheets. Students trace the focus word, have a go at writing it, and then cut the letter tiles and paste them into the empty boxes. There are additional letter tiles for words that are 1-5 letters in length. Students will need to sort out which letters they need to keep to make the word. A great activity for working on fine motor skills. Students also get to practise writing their name on every activity sheet. Words are written with the NZ Basic Script font. Lines are 14mm high with a 7mm dashed line. Made on A4 size paper (landscape orientation). Two worksheets per sheet. Worksheets are A5 size.
