This bundle contains 10 fully resourced lessons that cover the tectonics section of the AQA GCSE. Also included is a Knowledge Organiser and Revision Booklet.
A fully resourced lesson that covers the effects and responses to a specific hurricane. Designed for the demands of the 9-1 GCSE. Hurricane Katrina makes a great example as the responses were criticised by many. The Power-point has differentiated objectives linked to the new levels. Teacher notes are included for each slide with suggestions on possible approaches. The emphasis is on getting students to engage with the activities and demonstrate understanding. Resource sheets include differentiated activities and allow students to consolidate their learning. The main activity takes an evaluation exam question and encourages students to focus on what is required to work beyond Level 7. No other resources are needed.
This is a 40 mark assessment that covers the tectonic hazards section of the new AQA GCSE course. It should last an hour. The exam questions follow the new assessment style but I have simplified the multi- choice questions to reduce photocopying costs. A 9 mark 'assess' extended response question is included to allow access to the highest grades. Also included is a full mark scheme.
This lesson looks at how CO2 can be reduced so that the impacts of future climate change can be reduced. It considers carbon capture, tree planting, international agreements and alternative energy resources. Includes an active starter activity to engage the students immediately, video links, as well as support activity sheets to summarise the key learning or support weaker students. Differentiated exam questions are also included. The lesson makes reference to the Hodder or Oxford textbooks for the main activity as the exam board have specified the content, but other sources would work just as well.

The Granite sheets covers the challenging process of hydrolysis as well as present day freeze-thaw action in an accessible way. A fully resourced lesson that explores the DTM in an active way. Written specifically for the AQA GCSE 9-1 course and fully updated. The power-point covers the key definitions and includes video links. The main activity is a market place/carousel task in which the students move around the room collecting the information for each stage. The information sheets are in colour for high impact and would benefit from laminating to ensure they can be reused year after year. The syllabus refers to Nigeria but the pyramid is only just entering stage 3 so I have also included Brazil, as it shows the difference from stage 2 far more clearly. The information makes references to policies in Nigeria as it is used as a case study elsewhere in the course.

Whilst it makes some reference to the Oxford Textbook the information is included with the resource and so the lesson can be used as a standalone activity. The information is presented as a diamond 9 activity to encourage analysis of the information and a more evaluative approach. A variety of exam style questions are included to demonstrate the difference between 6 and 9 mark questions. Very little preparation is required - simply print off the statements for the diamond 9 activity.
