Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (Like a Girl) Documentary Movie Guide | Questions | Worksheet (TVMA - 2019) challenges students put themselves in the shoes of the young girls attending Skateistan. Compare what courage means to the girls in the film with what it means to students at your school. Discuss how learning to skateboard affects the girls and their confidence and what activities your students can learn that will have a similar effect.
This resource consists of 6 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

Teach CCSS with Moana’s Song Shiny! Use this short 3 minute song to teach a ton of CCSS standards. Explore how lyrics reveal what Tamatoa feels about himself and how he responds to those feelings. Compare Tamatoa to Maui, identify metaphors and discuss what they mean in the context of the song.
This song by Jemaine Clement, along with the lyrics on screen, can be found on YouTube.
The full movie, Moana, is available for streaming on Disney + and the song can be found from the 1:01:30 minute mark.
