Using the 2018 paper overlap questions - 90 words. There are 2 examples of a “foundation” performance, with many mistakes for pupils to identify, They can also grade the paper using the markscheme if required.
Pupils can then work in pairs or individually to improve the versions done to get higher Content and Language marks using more connectives and more accurate grammar.
These are some German into English translation cards which have the essential tenses with key verbs for GCSE and KS3.
Students can use them as a sheet then check their answers, they can be cut up and bundled into 10s with clips for regular revision practice. Students can self-check against the answers. They can work in pairs - groups with these cards.
ideal as starter or plenary for grammar lesson.
My students have found them very useful in practising key verbs in both KS3 and 4
These are a sheet of cards that can be used for KS3 or KS4.
They are short sentences and verbs saying what someone has done at school or during a school year.
They can be used as translation exercises - bingo -
Another use is to match them to 8 made up exam bullet points on the board / on a sheet. they can then write the bullet points by adding opinions… They should add time phrases in to change the word order and sequence…
Some are higher level verbs.
A revision sheet with the present and the past tense clearly set out and with simple exercises at the bottom of the page.
useful for revision, cover, individual intervention and extra tense practice.
These are useful GCSE sheets that focus students on how to revise effectively.
Each page has a section for key verbs, vocabulary, um … zu ,. phrases, wenn phrases and subordinate clauses.
There are over 20 pages based on the “writing” topics from the three themes - Theme 1 - friends / familly, marriage and future plans, festivals, free time , tech etc Theme 2 - holidays (past, ideal, preferences etc)- environment - town - home - social problems
They can be used to highlight higher or essential foundation vocabulary
Pupils can go through these and complete them using the text book or other resources collecting vocabulary.
pupils can then use the reverse of the sheet to write a "model "answer. for H or F
They can be copied or completed on the computer.
Revision game for imperfect tense, “venir de” and “holiday” problems useful for the writing exam…
Pupils can use the cards individually or in pairs/ groups - they translate the English into French.
there are answer sheets for all - usually "on " is used for "we"
Also some perfect tense cards.
They focus on quick recall needed and “drilling” in groups
Suggest that the cards are divided up into packs of 10 with clips and students can put them to one side when they have learnt all 10.
These are cards with important verbs in major tenses - also key expressions such as "there will be"
students look at the English and say it in French or write on whiteboard.
They can work individually or in pairs/ groups. The cards have answer sheet that does not need to be cut up.
Suggest putting cards in groups of 10 - either mixed for a high-flying group or split according to tense for a set that needs more support.
has - perfect - conditional - future - imperfect - present tenses
students have found them very effective when working on verbs,
Very clearly laid out sheet on perfect tense in French with avoir regulars, avoir irregulars and tre verbs , also reflexives
exercises at the bottom of the sheet.
