Job overview

Salary MPS/UPS

Start: 1st January 2025 or sooner if possible

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic teacher of History and/or Geography who will inspire our students and help to develop effective learning across the full age and ability range. The department teaches History and Geography at both GCSE and A level and has a record of achieving outstanding results for its students.

You will join a well-resourced department that continues to equip students well for the next stage of their careers. This is an ideal opportunity for either an ECT or an experienced teacher with a passion for Humanities to enhance the opportunities and experiences of students at Caldew School. This post is to cover a maternity leave.

We have a very strong caring ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people is everyone’s responsibility at Caldew and we take this very seriously through a child-centred approach.

We are happy for candidates to visit the school or have an informal chat prior to submitting their application. Please contact school to organise this.

Closing Date:            Midday, Wednesday 2nd October

Interviews:                  Wednesday 9th October

About Caldew School

Caldew School is a popular, rural 11-18 mixed comprehensive school situated south of the city of Carlisle with a catchment area that extends to the fringe of the Lake District. We have 1000 pupils on roll including Sixth Form.

We have a good and improving track record of achievement at all examination levels, good resources and facilities and a rich programme of visits and extra-curricular activities.

Our Ofsted inspection in June 2022 graded Caldew as ‘good. However, we are not complacent and we know that there are areas where we need to do better.
