This series of two lessons was used to develop pupils' reading skills of a non-fiction text (using the opening extract from the autobiography) and then allowing pupils to use this selected/inferred information to write the next chapter of the autobiography and create a convincing voice.

This scheme has been created to be taught to a low-ability Y9 class and is mainly designed around The Landlady with a short speaking activity based around Lamb to the Slaughter. This class had a range of SEN and EAL needs and you will be able to see lots of differentiation within the PPs and activities as well as the homework tasks. Outcomes will need modifying to suit your school's expectation. I have included an electronic copy of the Landlady and Lamb to the Slaughter as well as a Polish version of Lamb to the Slaughter.

This SoW was created as a Year 7 scheme aimed at low-mid ability students. Each PP has learning objectives and outcomes (these will need adapting to your school's expectations). It is a scheme based around the theme of nature/animals and features a variety of non fiction genres. This worked well as a scheme aimed at developing knowledge of non fiction and of writing skills. Some lessons, depending on your class, you may wish to spend longer on the main tasks. This scheme is also equipped with weekly homework tasks. Elements of differentiation are subtly incorporated into each PowerPoint (purple, orange and green tasks- purple: low, orange: mid, green: high) and on some hand-outs/worksheets/homework.

This comprehensive scheme has been created to teach a Y9 HA set writing and reading skills in relation to the increasingly difficult assessment criteria and in particular, to prepare students for the AQA KS3 test packs. <br /> <br /> This is a 6 week scheme comprising of 18 lessons. Each week has a homework task related to the week's topic. Week 1 focuses on familiarising students with the Gothic genre, week 2 focuses on Gothic settings, week 3 on character, week 4 on writing skills, week 5 on 'the short story' and week 6 on writing a Gothic opening. <br /> <br /> Differentiation is evident within the PPs and each week often has a differentiated worksheet or suggestion within it. <br /> <br /> The written SoW is included within this and details marking suggestions for pieces of work. Objectives and outcomes are WALTs/WILFs/success criteria as stipulated by my school and may just need tinkering to suit your school.<br /> <br /> The anthology included is in chronological order of teaching. It is designed to help students develop their understanding of Gothic literature (including Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, Castle of Otranto, Woman in Black and the Tell-Tale Heart) and enables them to keep their notes in one place and take pride in their work. <br /> <br /> This scheme has taken a while to create so I hope it's of use to many people!
