Religious Leaders Year 5 and 6 Upper KS2.

This is the PowerPoint which I have created to support teaching staff through the 6 week unit plan. (6 lessons out of a total 12 lessons; currently being worked on).

Please find the unit of work planning for free in available in my shop.

The unit of work is 6 lessons long and it begins with looking at role models, what inspires, influences and leads us and gives many opportunities for children to discuss, think about and ask their own thought provoking questions. Then it moves to looking at Buddhism, the Dalia Lama and then Judaism and Moses.

This also includes the worksheet for lesson 5.

Example NPQSL: Improve the reading progress outcomes of boys in KS2

Please find my NPQSL submission which is all about improve the reading progress outcomes of boys in KS2. I passed with 26 marks out of 28.

When I was writing mine, I found that there was very little support for the writing and the appendices so I hope this one will be of help for those studying NPQSL.

The project (despite being interrupted by COVID) was successful and our reading 2022 SATs improved hugely following this change of teaching guided reading.

I have included the communications grid, business plan and risk analysis.

Taken from the contextual statement:

As a new Key Stage two leader and new teacher of year 6, I was keen to roll out a project across Key Stage 2 that would further my responsibilities and ensure progress for pupils was improved. Boys’ reading across the school had been an area to improve on from the school’s development plan (SDP), in both progress scores from SATs but also in encouraging boys to read for pleasure. Furthermore, developing greater depth scores in reading was an importance. There had been a number of intervention groups focused on improving reading progress in the school (Fischer Family Trust in lower KS2; teacher-led reading intervention groups in year 5 and 6 (some specifically for boys) and reading buddy groups. Personally, the teaching of reading has always been of a great interest to me and I felt enthused to begin a project that would delve further into the pedagogy surrounding the teaching of reading. For this particular project, with the SDP in mind and after discussions with the SLT, I focused on improving the progress scores of boys measured by their end of KS2 results.

I am the induction tutor for numerous year 1 ECTs in my primary school and found a few resources through TES and also on Google to help support me in evidence collection. I have merged resources together and created this spreadsheet and wanted to share it incase it helped anyone.

The spreadsheet pages are as follows:

Record of meetings (for the mentor and ECT to fill out weekly)
Formal targets (taking from the Progress Review and formal assessment points with specific criteria of how it will be met)
Teaching Standard Evidence (With boxes to write exactly what has been shown to meet that TS)
Teaching Standards 1 - 8 and part 2 - a sheet with some excellent examples of what ECTs might show to fulfill evidence

I have taken all of these resources from various sources from Google and TES and merged together. I hope you can edit it and it is helpful for you and your ECTs to keep a suitable log.

R.E. Religious and Inspirational Leaders Year 5 and 6 Unit of Work

Religious Leaders Year 5 and 6 Upper KS2

This is a 6 week unit of work which is on Religious Leaders. I have been inspired by the Cumbria document on Religious Leaders and that is where the stories come from in the planning document.
See:
https://cumbria.gov.uk/elibrary/Content/Internet/537/6381/6528/17315/43012133650.pdf

It begins with giving children the chance to think about who is important to them, who leaders are, what qualities they share, what influence and inspiration means and then moves on to discussing religious leaders.

I have created a PowerPoint to go alongside this with a worksheet for lesson 5. Find this in my shop!
