Student discussion rarely invoke real analysis and driving forward of ideas. They either agree or conflict with each other which doesn't move them forward. Print these cards off on different colours. Each student has a set. They need to 'play' their card to contribute meaningfully to the discussion. <br /> <br /> Make up the rules to suit, but getting rid of all our cards first always seems to raise levels of engagement.<br /> <br /> Use in conjunction with cooperative learning mat where responsible/higher ability students might facilitate the discussion and monitor participation

Students initial where they have seen other pupils display the positive behaviours needed to work productively in a group for rewards. <br /> <br /> I have used it with even the most cynical of groups who have initially laughed at it's inclusion but it soon gets competitive. <br /> <br /> Possible use for differentiation at all levels of ability- have a role of facilitator to monitor all members of the teams contributions.
