3 days of celebrations in Spain? Yes, but not really as they are different occasions. In Spain it is called "Noche de Brujas" in modern times, but it is still called "Víspera de todos los Santos" (like the Irish ‘All Hallows’ Eve’, contracted to Halloween later on) and it falls on the 31st of October. On the 1st of November, we have el "Día de todos los Santos" for the deceased children. On the 2nd of November, we have el "Día de todos los fieles difuntos", for all those believers who died, but nowadays it is used to remember all dead people, of any religion or lack of. La "Víspera de todos los Santos" has been celebrated in Spain and other Catholic countries centuries before it was made so famous by the USA. It was brought there by the Irish immigrants, then changed to be so commercial nowadays. In reality it has pagan origins, celtic, but it was so important that the Catholic Church decided to move its own "Día de todos los Santos" to the 1st of Nov rather than keeping it in May, in the hope that it would swallow Samhain, the original celtic celebration, changing its name to the "Eve" of the 1st thus lowering its importance. It was particularly important in the celtic areas in Spain: Galicia and Asturias mainly.
Muchas gracias justo lo que buscaba.
