This is a lesson for the new GCSE Spanish 2024 course and is based on the Pearson Edexcel GCSE textbook.
This is a full lesson and follows the tasks in the textbook with additional activities to support student learning.
The PowerPoint includes the following slides:
- Starter activity x2 (one starter at the beginning of the PowerPoint and a second starter task on a slide at the end of the PowerPoint in case the content spills over into two classes and you need a second starter task for the second lesson on this topic)
- Vocabulary match sheet which can then be referred to throughout the lesson for support.
- Listening bingo - to get the students using the new vocabulary
- Mad syllables - to get the students using the new vocabulary

- Slide with some cutural info about how much time different countries spend on their phones - this sets scene for the next task…
- Mini survey speaking task - ask 5 people in the class how much time their spend on their phones

- Cognates activity - brief info on cognates then task to find them in the text from exercise 5 to then support them with the tasks based on this text.
- Exercise 5 Reading task (textbook task) with challenge task extension and useful vocab for support

- Read aloud task - students work in pairs to do a read aloud task followed by a spontaneous question - to prepare them for new GCSE speaking exam.
- Exercise 6 Listening task (textbook task)
- Transcript for support if needed

- Writing task based on exercise 7 of the textbook
- Plenary task - pyramid translations - can they translate their way to the bottom of the pyramid? How far can they go?
Also included is the vocabulary match up sheet and a 10 page booklet based on Mi Vida Digital which was used with our Year 9 students to help prepare them for the new GCSE course.
