The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about Aristotle, Alexander the Great and Socrates, and writing these on to a fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual figures. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on a neat copy using the template provided.

The bundle contains six reading comprehension activities, a timeline sorting activity and display, two biography writing units about Alexander the Great and Socrates, an informational text writing unit about Ancient Greece, and a discussion based writing activity about who was the most influential person from Ancient Greece. The activities are perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4. 23 Lessons, or 23 hours of activities, with NO PREP needed! Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about: * An Overview of Ancient Greece * Socrates * Aristotle * Alexander the Great * Homer * Aesop These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document. Secondly, there are two biography writing units about Socrates and Alexander the Great. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. Then, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events of Ancient Greece. There are 33 posters or task cards that include many of the key events and periods from the first settlers in Greece to the end of the empire. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to Ancient Greece. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated. Then, there is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Greece. The unit has also been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
