Ocean Plastic and Beach Litter

This is a lesson focussed on the causes, impacts and solutions of ocean plastic.
The lesson focusses on a local example of beach litter also.

The lesson includes:

• starter resource on plastic decomposition
• Youtube and Blue Planet videos embedded into the powerpoint
• ‘Ocean Plastic Detectives’ information hunt activity (information sheets and worksheets included)
• An extended writing task, writing a persuasive letter to the local council regarding the issues and solutions to the problem of ocean plastic and beach litter. Opportunity for pair work (letter and campaign poster)
• Writing frame for the letter is included.

This was designed as a ‘Local Issue’ KS3 lesson but could easily be ammended for integration within your unit of study/SOW, for an extracurricular group or towards the end of term.
