Rhythm and Pulse: Dots and Boxes
(Lesson 1 of 2) This lesson looks at how to read notation and rhythms using dots and boxes using the words tea, coffee and soup. Students interpret when to clap using the dots in the boxes and when to rest using blank boxes. We then build on this using the word coffee to interpret quaver beats and soup to interpret minim notes. Students then do a group performance using polyrhythms in four parts.
