Frequently asked questions about friendships (friendships can be hard work sometimes, how to stay in touch, what can I talk to my friends about, how can I invite a friend to play with me, how long can a friendship last, can I still be friends with someone when they move away, how do I keep my friends once I have made them, I’ve had a fight with my friend, what can I do to resolve the situation, my friend is sick, what can I do to help them) Addresses if you are a shy person (what you can do to make friends) Unhelpful friend behaviours (what not to do) Included is also a number of activities that can be completed independently and as part of a group or whole class activity. To support communication, visuals are included to help emphasize the key messages of the book. This resource has been developed and utilized by numerous students in primary school who have difficulty with pro-social behaviours. Learning about what makes a good friend and what makes a bad friend is an important life skill. We are surrounded by people everyday, but the level of friendship varies from person to person. This resource includes over 36 cards which includes key characteristics of both good friends and bad friends. These cards allow students to differentiate between what qualities they themselves would like to cultivate and what qualities they would like to look for in a friend themselves. At the end of the resource are two pages – one which is a box for “Good Friend Qualities” and “Bad Friend Qualities”. Simply cut each card and laminate for longevity. Students will have fun working either individually, in pairs or in groups exploring each of the qualities and characteristics. There are some blank cards included so that students can write their own cards based on their own experiences of what makes a good friend or bad friend. This assessment can be utilized to identify a baseline for individuals around their knowledge of money. This assessment explores an individual’s ability to identify coins and notes, explores value, the ability to count money and budget. This assessment is divided into seven specific areas and each area can be used in isolation to each other, or together to form a comprehensive assessment. These areas include: Basic Numeracy Skills 2.Written amounts 3.Colour recognition and value 4.Coin and note recognition 5.Budgeting assessment 6.Monetary values 7.Budgeting It is ideal that all sections are completed to give a general picture of the level of skills the Student currently has. The assessor needs to complete the scores in each section as well as placing a comment next to the score. It is important that the assessor provides a comment so that all relevant material can be extracted, and the most appropriate program be designed for each Student. SCORING - the assessor is to place a number score into the column next to the question. The scores go from 1 - 3 depending on the skill of the Student. Completed independently - i.e., no assistance at all from the assessor, (no verbal or gestural prompts). Completed with assistance - i.e., assessor may need to verbally prompt or point to correct response. Can not do - even with prompts the Student is unable to complete correct response. From the baseline a money recognition / budget program can be developed to meet the individual needs of each Student. EQUIPMENT NEEDED - The assessor will need to have the following equipment available prior to commencing the assessment: • Money in the form of coins and notes up to the value of $100.00. Should you not have the physical money, this resource includes the options to print a paper copy of the coins/notes which will suffice. • A printed copy of this assessment and associated worksheets. NOTE: This assessment is designed for Australian audiences as it uses Australian money.

Therapeutic Intervention for Teenagers to explore situations and decisions from a number of different perspectives. This resource encourages students to move outside their default thinking style and helps them self-reflect and move towards a more rounded and robust viewpoint. This is a great resource for teenagers with anger management, conflict resolution, limited personal insight and emotional regulation difficulties. Great to use in an individual, small or large group setting. This resource is versitile and can be utilised in many ways. Looking at things from a different perspective are a vital life skill. This resource includes 7 different glasses which encourages the student to explore a situation or problem from each of these lens. These include looking at a situation from various lenses including emotional, intuitive, creative, pessimistic, reactive, problem solving and analytic. This Early Intervention Speech Therapy Resource has been developed as a Building Communication Skills Program. It has been developed to assist you in using pictures/visuals and Makaton signs to facilitate communication with your child. This program is great for individuals with intellectual disabilities and cognitive impairments who require the use of visual supports to supplement and build upon their communication attempts. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL CONVERSATION STARTERS This is a fun intervention for individual or groups to support everyone to get to know each other and build unity and cohesion. Give everyone in the group six m&m’s each. For each colour, the student should answer that corresponding question. If possible, try to ensure that there is a range of colours so they don’t get the same question. This version is great for back to school week to reflect of how their holiday went, what they did and what they are looking forward to in the upcoming year.
