A step by step guide to learning about positive and negative space and a step by step guide to creating a contrast feature piece of art work. Children can follow the on screen instructions and see how the picture builds up as they add more. This lesson creates a Stone Henge contrasted piece of work with a follow up extension. The steps use 2B to 6B pencils. This could equally be used as a painting exercise or as a collage exercise.

This works really well for maths but can also be used along side written questions with A/B/C answers, for spelling tests or for assessment of understanding on a topic. I have included full instructions written on the excel document for how to edit the questions and answers to suit your needs. These are not included in the screenshot of the document.
