The files include posters for a ‘Psychflix’ display. For each film or box-set there is a short description, the units it links to for A level Psychology and a QR code which takes the student to a trailer for the film or an article. (To scan the QR codes, just open the camera on your phone and point it at the code; most phones will pick up the code and take you straight the link). There are some ‘stretch and challenge’ questions so that students can watch the films while considering an issue such as ‘free will-determinism’ and challenge themselves to answer the questions. Psychflix: I got the font online (it allows you to print off single words) and then printed it out on A3 paper. I cut out the letters and glued them to black card. I then stapled this onto the notice board. YOU WILL NEED BLACK BACKING PAPER FOR YOUR NOTICE BOARD AND A STAPLE GUN. The stimulus for the assessment questions is based on the concentric star experiment performed by HM. I’m sure you’re familiar with this experiment, but just in case you’re not… HM had his hippocampus removed to cure his epilepsy, however, it destroyed his ability to form new episodic and semantic memories. He performed an experiment where he was required to draw between the lines of concentric stars using only his reflection in a mirror (a tricky task). He got better at the task despite not remembering having ever done it. It provided evidence for a third type of long term memory - procedural, often referred to as ‘muscle memory’. I usually use narrow margins for my Word documents, so if the formatting seems a bit out, then change the margins to narrow. This is probably more useful for 1st year degree level where they will need more information about choosing parametric tests. The test gives a hypothesis and experimental design and then requires students to identify the level of measurement, whether it’s a parametric or non-parametric test, which test to use and the reasons why. It could be used as a test at the beginning of the next lesson. Most A Level psychology text books have 'Can You' or 'Check It' type questions on each page. These are exam style questions that help you assess your knowledge. I have written answers to typical 'Can You' questions for the Memory Unit of A Level Psychology. If you're a student, try the questions and then check against the model answers. If you're a teacher, you could set the questions for homework and then perhaps get them to do peer marking using the answers as a marking template. Each file attached is split into a different topic from the memory unit and has A01 (describe), A02 (apply) and A03 evaluate questions. There are full 16 markers for each topic in the unit. This PowerPoint is for the essay "Discuss two biological explanations for anorexia". Each slides represents a paragraph of the essay and has the full model essay slide by slide. The pictures are to help you remember each point and there are some memory pegs. There is an activity for students to complete to help them remember the essay and at the end of the PowerPoint is a Memory Story.

This is the PowerPoint to accompany the video available on the YouTube channel 'Psychology Students' entitled 'Discuss the Relationship between sexual selection and human reproductive behaviour'.
