An assembly focusing on the dangers of fake news, how we recognise fake news and the importance of being aware of it. The assembly explores the fact that it was Hitler who invented the idea of fake news and then examines how he used it to gain power and control the public, before comparing it to the way politicians use fake news - from Thatcher to Trump. There are then slides which explore how to recognise fake news and what to do if you’re unsure. The slides shown are just a sample of those included. Students will explore the concept of social justice, its link to human rights and why it’s needed, before examining recent campaigns and the progress being made by the social justice movement. They all work as standalone lessons but also some of them are taken from the Complete KS5 PSHE Package - which can be found on the EC Publishing website with a quick Google.
