A student-research resource (4-pages) and understanding of the Author's life. Provides initial insight prior to the reading of the whole text and puts the book in context. Background to the Author's turbulent life / A well-read young girl who could often be found with books beside her Mother's grave / Bringing up her children alone from Age 24 / Her death and the death of her husband / The true-to-life Frankenstein castle and stories surrounding its former inhabitants / 'Prometheus' meaning and origins.
Used with KS3 Film and Media Studies - specifically designed to assist students in critically analysing the film; camera angles; sound; edit and developing perspective relating to the narrative and impact upon audience.
The same type of resource is available for both Superhero Genre and Horror.
A resource developed specifically to compare films and can be related to novels from the same genre. Assists the student greatly in encouraging their skill-development to critically analyse. Other resources available are similar by design and relate to the Superhero genre and the film Tsotsi.

This prints as a double-sided 12-page booklet or could be printed in individual sections and introduced throughout the period of study.
I recently introduced this with Year 9's who are studying Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, i.e. as one full pack to use alongside this text. I am about to use the same pack, with the same class, as they enter the engaging realms of Macbeth.
The feedback from the pack was that the students (as a majority) felt it made greater sense to them to have all of the paperwork together and then filed in this way. We booked the IT Suite over two lessons, to introduce the Internet Research booklet and used the visual aids (Timeline/Visual-Mapping) in class with the interactive whiteboard.
The Timelines were particularly effective and we printed these A3-size. One student comment was that she felt that it "provided a visual-snapshot" so she could rely on/recall a "picture", rather than words, to consider the "chronological-order of events" when she was studying, or in an exam.
These tools are all available individually, but I've combined them in a single-pack and kept the cost reasonable, as I felt this could save some preparation time for teachers.
Personally, I would print off the whole pack A4 and then figure the order/sizing from there, as this could easily work as a combined booklet and introduced to a class where applicable.

What to focus on in GCSE Reading and Writing.

A 9-page resource (prints double-sided as a five-page mini-booklet) with a column for student notes to cite evidence.
A simple yet highly effective resource to allow students to develop a visual understanding of their study material. I find that by printing off a couple of hundred of these, A3, prevents time-wasting and student scrawling. This single-page resource creates some form of continuity in student files or exercise books. As a high number of students require some form of a 'visual-assist' in classes, i.e. to get their heads around the study material,
mind-maps are a wonderful, complimentary addition to any classroom.
A two-page resource with a table containing a list of the AQA novels, plays and poetry, with a Home-Learning blank table on page two for students. Used for the purpose of encouraging additional reading outside of the classroom to assist with overall understanding of the texts.
A four-page resource. Describes an event taking place in Santa Clara County, California.
The resource asks the student to read the social-media article and then create one of their own using the guidelines provided.
A printed resource along the same lines as the PP.
Provides examples of how poetry is used in Film, Music and Advertising with a visual example of each of these.
The final page of the six-page resource then asks the student to create their own piece of work.
Prints as 3-page double-sided.
The PP is the same so could use this via Google Drive perhaps and then simply use a single-sheet of paper for the student response - save on resources.
A PP showing how poetry is used in everyday Film, Music and Advertising as a basic introduction to students, particularly those who consider it a boring or challenging or highbrow subject. This is a a succinct presentation which leads to the student then creating a piece of work containing 'poetry'.
Encouraging young minds to delve and create their own verse is an immediately effective way to connect with who they are and to allow them to see that poetry can be accessible to anybody. By providing examples of avant-garde work and discussing changes in language through time, every student will be able to create something in a style and with a rhythm of their own. Then, when they approach the clusters, they'll be able to interpret from the perspective of a writer, rather than a complete novice.
