Algebra Puzzles Factorising Quadratics Solving Equations Fun Maths Solving Quadratics Expanding and Factorising FOIL Tarsia Puzzle End of Term, There are 4 puzzles in this resource. There are 24 equilateral triangles with algebra on each side. Students have to fit the triangles together to make 4 hexagons. The algebra on the touching edges of each triangle must match. The questions are non-calculator. All answers are included. ✎ Contents: This resource includes: • Expanding and factorising – 2 puzzles each with 6 pieces. • Solving Equations – 2 puzzles each with 6 pieces. • Teachers notes. • All answers. ✦ Objectives: To practice: - • Expanding and factorising algebraic expressions (with one and two brackets) • Simplifying expressions • Solving equations • Expanding brackets • The FOIL method • Factorising quadratics • The difference of two squares • Combining like terms • Simplifying algebraic expressions • Solving quadratic equations by factorising • Factorising with a single bracket ✽ Directions: Print out the 4 pages of triangles for each student. Students need to cut them out and then try to match them to make 4 hexagon shapes. The hexagons can be glued into maths books or onto a sheet of paper. To make it easier, just do puzzles 1 and 2 together. Or just do puzzles 3 and 4 together. To make it harder, mix all 4 puzzles up together! ✦ Notes: The document is 11 pages in total, but you will only need to print out 4 pages for the students. Area and Perimeter of Squares GCSE Maths Revision This is a no-prep printable challenge. The worksheet has 36 boxes each showing a measurement for a square. Students need to match pairs of measurements to make 18 squares. E.g., Side = 7cm would match with Area = 49cm2. One side length has not been filled in. The challenge is for students to work out the missing answer to make 18 matching pairs. All measurements are in centimetres. All answers are included. ✎ Contents: This resource includes: • 1 Worksheet – with 36 measurements for various squares. • Teachers notes. • All answers. ✦ Objectives: To practice: - • Metric Measurements • Finding the area of squares when given the side length. • Finding the perimeter of squares when given the side length. • Finding the side length when given the area of a square. • Finding the side length when given the perimeter of a square. ✦ Notes: All answers are included, so you can easily mark students work. These questions should take at least half an hour for students to complete. They can be done without a calculator. ✽ Directions: Give each student a worksheet. Students need to match pairs of measurements to correctly make 18 squares. Fractions of Amounts Multiplying a fraction with a whole number. There are 3 worksheets of increasing difficulty. All answers are included. For Challenges 1 and 2: For each challenge there is a question sheet and an answer sheet. There are 25 answers on the answer sheet, but only 24 questions on the question sheet. The challenge is for students to match each question to an answer. There will be one answer left. When they find the extra answer, students can create their own question for it. For Worksheet 3: Students are asked to work out fractions of money. At the end they will add up all the money to find a total answer. This resource can be used as worksheets, or you can read out the questions and let students cross off their answers in a quiz/bingo style. The document is 12 pages in total, with 5 pages to print out for students. This resource can be printed in colour or black and white.
