How do astronomers calculate distances to stars using the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram?
This lesson explains how stellar distances are estimated, and includes a task for students to complete which requires them to plot 5 stars on the HR diagram and then use data to estimate their distance from Earth in Parsecs.
