This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2. For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 29 after the completion of Component 1. It has two presentations, one is 45 slides and covers culture and social barriers and ways to overcome those as per PSA Task 3, with applied examples. The second is 13 slides and covers Language Barriers. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA. Students will be expected to know a range of potential barriers but the focus is on cultural, social and language in the spec below and be able to recognise which barrier(s)apply and the most suitable ways to overcome these. Throughout there is reference to different services from A2. Homework is set as the case studies they do not cover in the lesson so they have the full range from the spec. The package covers the below spec content; Barriers to people with different social and cultural backgrounds; lack of awareness, differing cultural beliefs, social stigma, fear of loss of independence Ways to overcome social and cultural barriers: awareness campaigns, posters and leaflets, well women and well men clinics, choice of service provider (e.g. if a male or female is preferred), collaboration with community and faith groups Barriers to people that speak English as an additional language or those who have language or speech impairments Ways to overcome language barriers: literature in other languages, face-to-face and telephone interpretation services, health and wellbeing group meetings for speakers of other languages, longer appointments, use of advocates, staff training and awareness of common speech and language difficulties PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW FOR THIS RESOURCE, THANK YOU The hscresources TES shop has free and small charge teaching packages for all Health & Social Care and T-Level Health qualifications. Support that goes with the life events and the characteristic trait self-esteem and outlook If you are following my SoW 2024-2025, this is Week 14, this now relates to PSA Task 3a (Life Event PIES) and 3b (Support) . There are homework tasks for both Level 1 and Level 2 which are adaptable to suit your need eg.date There are activities aimed at building up student notes to have with them in the PSA and capture understanding and can be referred to whilst students complete the PSA Controlled Assessment. There is the continued literacy support with useful vocabulary, again and a case study example PIES. There’s a 39 slide presentation introducing life events to get students thinking to start with. All the spec content relates to Life Event impacting on a person experiencing a point from the Health & Wellbeing category and suitable support. There is also points that guides students to considers personality impacting on coping strategies. This detail is included in the 40 slide presentation which has pause points for student contribution and breaks to complete their notes table which they can refer to in the actual PSA. There is homework worksheets for both Level 1 and Level 2 learners. The content covered is:- Health and wellbeing: • accident/injury • physical illness • mental and emotional health and wellbeing The character traits that influence how individuals cope: • resilience • self-esteem • emotional intelligence • disposition – a person’s character traits, e.g. positive, negative Formal GP support as well as family support to cope with the life events. All the resources are in a format you can adapt to suit your need. The content covered is:- o entering into relationships o marriage, civil partnership, long-term relationship o divorce, separation for non-married couples o parenthood o bereavement • resilience • emotional intelligence • disposition – a person’s character traits, e.g. positive, negative.
