An information sheet about the AQA GCSE German Writing exam - the 150-word essay part (which only appears on the Higher tier).
It explains the format of the exam, information on the word count, the mark scheme, some general tips, some common question vocabulary, information on stating and explaining your opinion, and some basic tense structures.
A knowledge organiser (KO) for German GCSE. It is for theme 2.2 - Mobile Technology. It complements the OUP textbook.
It includes key grammar (“Using the perfect tense”, and “Using the imperfect tense”), the aims of the theme, some “fancy phrases” for the topic, 20 key items of vocabulary (also in sentences for context), and four key verbs in five different tenses.
A 15-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity thinking about content previous covered and then introduces the different words for “my” for introducing male and female family members. It then introduces lots of family member vocab before explaining how to give names and ages of other people. There are also some translations, a translation worksheet (included), and a reading comprehension on the PowerPoint. It ends with an extended writing activity. A 14-slide PowerPoint presentation which starts with a Do Now activity covering German topics covered so far. It starts with an anagram activity to remind students of the words for some bedroom furniture, then reminds students of the correct words for “the” (at the start of sentences). It then introduces five prepositions (“neben”, “zwischen”, “in”, “auf”, and “unter”), and shows students the Dative Case in action with “a”, “the”, and “my”, with a grid to fill in (included). There then follows lots of practice - multiple choice quizzes, and then tasks asking students to form sentences using the Dative Case, prepositions and furniture. There is a drawing activity to show understanding of the words, a fun “Connect 4” activity where students have to translate phrases from this unit into German, and then a written task asking students to describe the position of the bedroom furniture in their room.
