This is a suitable introduction to China looking at location and the human and physical features, it is the first lesson in the scheme of work and assessment rubric for China that is available on TES.
This is a lesson that is ideal for KS3 or a lower ability KS4 class on Mass tourism, it fits best with AQA course however can fit nicely into any scheme of work and has the key skills needed for describing and explaining for an examination or assessment question.

Students have to collate information and assess the validity of the resources that they are using to make their decisions. This can be used as a precursor to an extended case study decision making activity as the grid is preparation for the structure of the written work. Self assessment grid has also been included in line with the planning and scheme of work available on TES.

Previous lessons to this sequence are available as this is the last lesson for this key question (see bundle to buy as a group) whereby students consider what it means to be a sustainable rural community. They need to work on examination skills of developing points to explain and use evidence on the spider diagram.
In addition students then look at a rural area that has attempted to regenerate and become more sustainable and students have to evaluate how successful the area has been in meeting the objectives using the images and clip link that is on the power point.
There is an examination question also to be used for homework with some scaffolding put in place that can be added to further or removed according to ability.
This resource is a good end of year quiz that can be adapted as it is aimed at mid level KS4 as there are core elements that are covered in examinations for Rivers for rounds one (hydrographs, causes of flooding, long profile) and then Round 2 is the use of map skills including grid references and location knowledge, round 3 is a guess the location by making inferences from the clues in the locations and then Round 4 and a bonus round of problem solving. All with a Christmas theme and then the slides are duplicated for peer marking as shown on the preview.

This lesson covers the reasons why some areas and people are more vulnerable to coastal hazards. There are a variety of activities such as a concept map and then students move on to the Thames Gateway.

There are a variety of tasks including map and photograph comparison exercises in addition to two short exam style questions.
This is an excellent introduction lesson to weather and climate with students having an attempt at completing a virtual weather diary using the clip attached and being introduced to key terms.
The task sheet should be printed A3 single sided so that students are able to access it easily and then the weather diary can also be used as homework too.
There are two versions of the lesson as one is using the Promethean software for IWB but I have also copied it onto ppt in the event you do not have the software at your school.
I have also included self assessment ladders (I have left them as levels as all schools can therefore change to their own systems).
This lesson follows on in the sequence of Theme 2 regarding population and urban change. Student consider what a sustainable community is with a mini revision picture task and then look at eco-towns using BedZed as an example with a video link.
Keywords are referenced and embedded into the power point before Egan's wheel is introduced in the form of a jigsaw task. Students then have to evaluate their local area using Egan's wheel and make comparisons about the sustainability of the local catchments areas. Homework sheet with wheel attached also.
