GCSE New Spec Picture Task Learning Mat

(0)
This resource is a learning aid aimed at preparing KS4 students for their speaking exam: Task 3 Picture Task. It helps students structure their description of a picture (People, Location, Activity) in a methodical way so that when it comes to their exam they have a structure they can rely on. The resource offers a very clear structure, range of vocabulary for possible picture scenarios, as well as possible examiner questions (common types) with possible answers. I have adapted this learning aid for the new specification (teaching from September 2024, first certification from 2026) and based it on the information provided in the GCSE FRENCH Sample Assessment Materials Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9–1) in French (1FR1). This resource is also suitable for the current specification. The way I have used it in the past: students regularly used the learning mat when describing a photo (lots and lots of photos), at some point they automated the process of a picture description and felt more confident and calm in the exam because they knew how to approach this task.
