They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. This French-speaking countries word searches freebie comprises two differentiated word searches with answer keys, featuring a range of countries where French is an official language. I have a set of 10 differentiated word searches with country, capital city and flag reference list in my store too - the full set description is as follows: Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 40 countries / territories where French is an official language. The word searches help students***develop their knowledge and awareness of the Francophone world***, and just how widely it is spoken around the globe. I’ve used the definite article for the countries, so that students can see which countries are masculine, and which feminine, which in turn helps consolidate knowledge of gender in French. In Grids 1-4, students search for a particular country. In Grids 5 & 6, they search for a range of capital cities. Grid 7 gives 16 capital cities as prompts, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid. Similarly, in Grid 8, there are 16 countries given, and students search for the corresponding capital cities in the grid. Grids 9 & 10 show a selection of national flags, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid, and also write the country name in the prompt box next to the individual flag. There is a single grid per page, A4 (8.5 x 11) portrait format. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Each grid has a corresponding answer key, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. I’ve included a complete reference sheet of all 40 countries, capital cities and flags - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general longer-term reference resource. EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES EUROPE BUNTING FREE SAMPLER

(1)
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES This is a free Europe bunting sampler featuring five countries, their capital cities and flags: Austria, Estonia, Finland, Portugal and Slovakia. The full set is as follows: Create an instant introduction to Europe and brighten up your learning environment with this bunting showing European countries, capital cities and flags, giving your classroom a great multicultural look and feel. It’s an ideal display for the annual European Day of Languages and Europe Day festivals, and great as a year-round display resource. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the bunting does help students develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Europe and its geography. The bunting works just as well in the geography classroom as the world languages classroom, aligning learning between language and knowledge of the world. I’ve also included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of Europe a little further, as well as several countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. Each bunting banner has a small tag which I use to hang with a clip from a ‘washing line’ across the classroom and other learning areas - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity! Laminate if you can - there’s a lot of prep, and certainly the bunting will use a lot of ink, but laminated the bunting will last for ever! EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES GAME

(0)
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES COUNTRIES AND FLAGS I HAVE, WHO HAS? GAME - great for any time of the school year, and particularly in celebration of The European Days of Languages and Europe Day! All my students, regardless of age, love this game - it’s whole-group, lively & communicative - the repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the flags, makes it perfect for learning the countries of Europe and their flags. The aim of the game is to make an alphabetical country line as quickly as possible, starting with the first card, Albania, and ending with the final card, Wales. Students will probably have several cards each, depending on the size of your group. I tend to play with a timer, as that adds a little edge to the game - I also like to play in teams too, for which we use several sets of cards. We start of with a rapid whole-group warm-up, asking simple questions such as How many European countries can you name in 15 seconds? and so on. Laminate the cards, as they’re far sturdier, and easier to work with, and will last for absolutely years! There are four cards per A4 (8.5x11) landscape format page - great size for everyone to see the words and flags really clearly. GEOGRAPHY QUIZ: STATES & CAPITALS OF THE USA

(0)
ALL THE US STATES AND THEIR CAPITALS - TWO QUIZZES WITH 100 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS - GREAT FOR DEVELOPING KNOWLEDGE OF THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE USA! There are two multiple choice quizzes, each with 50 questions. The structure of the question in Quiz 1 is: The capital of ALABAMA is… and there are three possible options given - the correct answer is in capital letters. The structure of the question in Quiz 2 is: MONTGOMERY is the capital of… again with three possible answer options, with the correct answer in capital letters. I laminate the cards, because they do last for years, and are far easier to handle. I put the question cards in a box or tin, and select cards randomly - sometimes I have a single quiz in the box, and sometimes I have both quizzes. We do play them quite often, as students really enjoy the competitive element, and it does help recall. The quizzes also work well when students ask the questions. Teams continue to get questions as long as they give the correct answer — you can have as many teams as suits your class - we also play in pairs too, especially if we’re playing a number of different quizzes at the same time. I’ve add 8 general knowledge questions too, so that there are six full questions on the final sheet, and in that way, there’s no wasted paper or laminate sheet. The question cards do look good with the color background, and there’s a different background for each quiz, but to keep costs down, I’ve also included a set with no background. My students also find reference resources really useful - download this list of all the states and capitals of the USA for free here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/geography-states-and-capitals-of-the-united-states-of-america-12128931 The resource has two non-editable files in a zipped format. SPANISH IR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE #1

6 Resources
GCSE SPANISH KS4 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH SPANISH IR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish IR verbs 3 workbooks & tenses @ £1.20 each, 150 conjugations, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer keys & verbs lists ideal for KS3 Spanish into KS4 Spanish students who are getting to grips with conjugation in Spanish, progressing to more complex language and texts. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. . The tenses are: present (presente) perfect (perfecto compuesto) preterite (pretérito) I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice, reinforcing and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for individual activities during cover lessons - I move onto conjugation quite quickly in my language learning programmes, so that students can apply language practically and creatively, which is essential for progressing in language learning, as well as consolidating language and grammatical concepts. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practice the conjugations during the whole schools year, which they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how Spanish conjugation ‘works’. When they are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well The workbooks focus on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the Spanish present tense, I encourage advanced beginner students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including for example the singular formal pronoun Usted form being identical, which is fairly standard, but the conjugation of the formal singular Usted does frequently lead to errors at this stage of learning. Language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. With the Spanish perfect tense for example, students with English as a first language frequently use tener instead of haber as the auxiliary, as they tend to be more familiar with tener. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verb haber in the present tense to ensure that they can form the perfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, there are***patterns*** in its formation, which students begin to be able to predict accurately: the more they see and use the participles, the more embedded these patterns become. There are certain differences in usage in the perfect and other tenses between English and Spanish, and I do always discuss this with students about this when we’re using the workbooks. When we look at the preterite tense in Spanish, students often confuse it with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating verbs, as well as when and how to use either tense. There are specific and important differences in usage between the tenses, and I do always discuss this with students about this when we’re using the workbooks. Generally, I introduce a range of past tenses fairly closely together, so that students can compare and contrast tenses, with lots of practice for both correct conjugation and usage, as I’ve found that this helps students really grasp the nuances of the tenses, the differences in endings, and when exactly to use them. It also allows us to compare and contrast tenses, across a range of texts and authentic resources, which really helps students consolidate learning. There are conjugation patterns and specific rules for usage that students can learn, recognize and apply, which students begin to be able to predict accurately, which in turn ensures that their spoken and written Spanish is accurate, and that their understanding of Spanish across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Each set is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. Notes and Next Steps template to encourage my students to reflect on their progress, and think about what they can reasonably and realistically do to meet learning targets and move on - we revisit the conjugations, and the Notes and Next Steps, regularly - sometimes students haven’t quite embedded learning before it’s time to move on, so revisiting for 10-minute ‘chunks’ is really popular with them. Students not any new verbs they learn, which in time builds into a really comprehensive verb vocabulary bank. We also use the Notes and Next Steps to inform, guide and focus whole-group discussion on learning and progress in general, which is a really popular activity. answer key six pages in book format. Answer keys are essential for this kind of learning activity, as they do provide a really essential additional opportunity for students to engage with language, and my students prefer to work and learn independently, assessing their own progress, either individually, in pairs or in small groups. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! SPANISH AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE @ £1.20 EACH IN THE BUNDLE 3 workbooks & tenses, 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions across 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys & verb lists, 450 conjugations in total, ideal for advanced level Spanish A Level students who are working with more complex language and texts featuring a range of tenses, including authentic resources, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation, tense and mood in Spanish. Grammar books are not necessarily particularly consistent with grammatical terminology, for example the conditional perfect (condicional perfecto) is also called the conditional past in English. The English equivalent is I would have helped for example. When students are confident with the pluperfect tense in Spanish, it’s actually really useful to introduce the future perfect tense fairly closely with the conditional perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses across a broad range of texts and authentic resources, and to practise them fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together, particularly at this stage of their Spanish learning. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
