The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. I encourage my beginner Italian students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organising their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning files or folders. My students all have reference resource binders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files. We also use twine or thick string, which young Italian learners really enjoy making. I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. I have also uploaded a number reference sheet I give my more experienced Italian learners - it’s in landscape format, with all the numbers on a single sheet, so the font size is smaller - students who’ve been learning Italian for a while are comfortable with quite a lot of text on a single page. Have a look at it here: ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #2 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/italian-numbers-0-100-list-freebie-2-12439282 There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I generally use for Italian vocabulary display, and plain. SPANISH-SPEAKING & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES POSTERS

(2)
BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING POSTERS FLASHCARDS 62 posters / flashcards featuring 21 Spanish-speaking countries and 10 Portuguese-speaking countries with the countries, capital cities and flags, in Spanish. I've found having the posters in my classroom provides an instant introduction to the scope of the Spanish-speaking world, and seeing the countries where Portuguese, rather than Spanish, is spoken, prevents them confusing the two from the very beginning of their learning - my students do often tend to get them a little mixed up! The posters are great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. I often ask quick questions such as ¿Cuál es la capital de...?, ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? or ¿Se habla español o portugués en Brasil? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner language learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important. This works particularly with my beginner Spanish classes, as it's a great way of encouraging them to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish program. I've often found that there can be several (or more!) countries that students don't actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of the wider world. There are two backgrounds to choose from: Spanish / Portuguese flag or plain. Laminate them if you can, as they hang really well, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years. This product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie set features two differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. They focus on a range of countries where Spanish is an official language, with reference to a number of countries where a significant number of the population speak Spanish as their first or second language. The word searches really do help students develop their knowledge and awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, and just how widely Spanish is spoken around the globe. The word searches work well across the school year, not only when you’re focusing on Spanish-speaking countries. I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers and for cover lessons quite regularly, as this helps embed students’ learning, and they genuinely enjoy putting their memory to the test! Please read the Terms of Use. 99 words & phrases, with matching English cards & workbook My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. They find that this way of working really does help them to develop their confidence and embed the vocabulary into their longer-term memory. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. They love to quiz and test themselves and each other on a regular basis - it’s a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling tasks’. The target vocabulary includes essential beginner Spanish words and phrases in the following vocabulary groups: = Los saludos = Los días de la semana = Los meses y las estaciones del año = Los números 0-20 = Mi familia = Palabras frecuentes = Frases útiles para la clase = Preguntas y respuestas The 18-page reference, recall and write workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical Spanish-English vocabulary list, which works well as a longer-term reference resource too. The 3 differentiated Recall & Write activities really help students practice and review the vocabulary, and to work on spelling and writing in Spanish: Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a Spanish prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words and phrases in Spanish from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Spanish to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category Notes and Next Steps encourages students to reflect on their learning. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be coped, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only, Please read the Terms of Use. I think that lessons in the run-up to Christmas provide the perfect opportunity to revisit language we’re learnt earlier in the school year - my beginner French students really enjoy going back over and consolidating the vocab that they were introduced to right at the beginning of their learning. I created various sets of Christmas-themed vocab cards to get them feeling festive - it definitely works! I tend to have several sets all ready, and keep them in learning folders, so that students can choose which vocab groups they want to work on, though often, they like to work with the complete set, so it’s a good idea to have a couple of sets so that there are enough to go round. The Santas have vocabulary in the following word groups: Les salutations Les jours de la semaine Les mois de l’année Les quatre saisons de l’année Les nombres 0 à 31 Les couleurs Quelques pays du monde The Snowmen have vocabulary in the following word groups: Les animaux (indefinite article, all singular) Les parties du corps (definite article, range of singular and plural) Le temps Les fruits et légumes (definite article) Les matières scolaires (definite article) There are a lot of cards, which means some prep - if you can, laminate them, not only because they’re far better to learn with, but also because you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years! The quizzes are no-prep, and good to go - they’re non-editable, because of the Terms of Use of the clipart and fonts I’ve used, so have a quick look through before you play. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. I have, Who has... ? is a great language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the animals images, makes it perfect for practicing, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in Latin. It’s a whole-group communicative game, with a multi-skill focus on speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary-building and developing language confidence. The game really does help to create a lively language learning environment, and is a great alternative to more traditional 'drilling' activities. It doesn't matter if some of the words don't feature in your immediate or longer-term learning plan: the aim of the game is to encourage children to engage happily and confidently with both the written and spoken word in Latin. The game works well during your work with the animal kingdom in Latin, and as an all-year-round s tarter and refresher game - along the way, children may even get to know some new animals! There are two games, and two challenges: Challenge One: with the words written out in full in alphabetical order Challenge Two: with the words in topsy-turvy order, and with only the first letter given, which is great for a memory work-out, and really encourages children to focus on the individual words, as well as the gender of each word. There is a visual prompt to help children remember the correct word. The gender is also given, as an additional opportunity to reinforce the concept of gender. There are 30 animals in the set, including both masculine and feminine (this set of animals doesn't actually feature any with neuter gender), which is a really useful engagement with the concept of gender: * bear * bee * bird * bull * cat * cow * dinosaur * dog * donkey * * elephant * fish * fox * frog * hedgehog * horse * giraffe * goose * * kangaroo * lion * mouse * owl * panda bear * polar bear * rabbit * * rat * sheep * snake * spider * whale * zebra * GRATIA PLENA ET CARPE DIEM!

There’s also a question card template for students to apply language skills creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy putting new questions together for each other. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocab, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practice how to count in Spanish, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. PRIMARY SPANISH TELLING THE TIME DOMINOES KS3 SPANISH TELLING THE TIME DOMINOES ANALOGUE CLOCK TIMES Files are non-editable in a zipped format. This resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Dominoes games are an ideal language learning activity, and a lively alternative to more traditional practice and consolidation activities. These games will help students build up and embed their knowledge of how to tell the time in Spanish in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino time sequence line. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading. There are three games, each with a slightly different level of challenge: Challenge One features a range of clock times,o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past the hour - students tend to learn those clock times first, so it’s good to have a real focus on them to ensure students are confident with the general concept of telling the time in Spanish. I’ve used en punto to express o’clock, but I point out to students that it’s not absolutely necessary, and they’ll see Es la una for example, perhaps even more frequently than Es la una en punto, which tends to convey a certain emphasis. The time phrase appears first, followed by the clock face. Challenge Two features a range of all analogue clock times, and is a slightly longer game than Challenge One. Again, the time phrase appears first, followed by the clock face. Challenge Three also features a range of analogue clock times, and is the same size as Challenge Two. In this challenge, the clock face appears first, followed by the time phrase, which works slightly differently on recall, and really does help to consolidate knowledge. There’s definitely prep involved - download, print out, and laminate. Laminating is definitely worth the extra time and expense, because the dominoes are far more learner-friendly, and will last in excellent condition for years. The background design on each challenge is different, allowing students to identify which challenge the individual dominoes belong to. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 99 high-frequency German verbs with 99 matching English verbs cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for advanced beginner German learners, as they prepare to move into and work confidently at intermediate German level. The games and activities are a really successful alternative to more traditional 'vocabulary drilling' exercises. Students can work independently of the teacher, challenging themselves and each other in their best German accent to find all the matching verbs cards in German and English. The card templates allow students to apply their German knowledge practically and creatively, as they put together mini-quiz cards for each other, preferably from memory. There are three differentiated recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One students write the English verbs from a German prompt, with all the verbs in alphabetical order, German-English. Written Recall Challenge Two again, students write the verbs in English from a German prompt, but the German verbs are now in random, rather than alphabetical order. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order. Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge requires students to write the corresponding German verb from an English prompt. The English verbs are also in random order. This challenge really helps with vocabulary recall, which is quite challenging when vocabulary does not appear in the context of a sentence. It's really useful for spelling in German too. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other. * Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. * Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. * 28 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There is one ’independent research’ question, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about Spain. PRIMARY FRENCH NUMBERS KS2 FRENCH NUMBERS KS3 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 CHALLENGE CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Perfect for developing French language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising numbers 0-21 in French. There are 36 differentiated questions, answer key, recording sheet and number reference sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for cover lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students. All the questions are in French, including a range of French maths language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use***maths symbols as visual clues and prompts***, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. Depending on the particular group, I may read through the questions together as a whole-group first. The resource comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format: = 36 differentiated question cards 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible, as the cards are more learner-friendly and remain in excellent condition for years = answer key & recording sheet = question card template students apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element in successful language learning = number reference sheet Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. PRIMARY FRENCH NUMBERS KS2 FRENCH NUMBERS KS3 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user licence only. Please read the Terms of Use. French Numbers 0-31 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of French numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner French students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on French Numbers 0-31, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in French, but also to enjoy working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I've used visual prompts such as math symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don't allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on French math language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of math is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper; laminate if possible 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !
