PRIMARY FRENCH COLOURS WORD WALL Create an instant introduction to colours in French with this set of word wall cards, featuring 17 colours. SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES #1

(0)
PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 33 Spanish Christmas words, which I also use as a prompt to stimulate discussion about Spanish Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing and spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are absolutely essential for me, as they provide students with an additional opportunity to engage with language, help them develop more independence in their learning. There’s a Spanish-English Christmas vocabulary reference sheet - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general reference resource. Students will have to look carefully at some of the words they’re looking for, as they may appear slightly differently - for example, they may have to find the gifts and work out what that is in Spanish - only the prompt the gift appears in the reference list. Have a browse in my store for more Spanish Christmas activities, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES

CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS, GRID TEMPLATES & CHRISTMAS VOCABULARY LIST Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This resource combines two sets of Christmas word searches, with Set 1 designed more for KS2, and Set 1 for KS1 - of course, it depends on your learners, and what stage they are currently at in their learning. Christmas Word Searches #1 The set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on a wide range of Christmas vocabulary, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. There are 48 Christmas words featured, which is a great way of stimulating discussion about cultural, religious and national traditions and practices. There are some religious words in the searches, such as Nativity and Three Kings/Wise Men. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new words and vocabulary, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and English Language skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. There are also four question and answer key grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other - this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. The templates enable learners to apply language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of language development. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet, portrait format. There is also an answer key for each word search. Christmas Word Searches #2 This set features five differentiated word searches, again with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. For additional consolidation, they also rewrite each word in the word column. There are also five question and answer key grid templates . Encourage learners to include other Christmas words that aren’t included in the grids. We also discuss Christmas traditions and practices in our home and other countries, and this gives an additional opportunity to add words and phrases they can use in their own word searches. These word searches are in landscape format, mirroring the direction of reading and writing in English from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet. The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. ITALIAN ERE VERBS PRESENT TENSE

GCSE ITALIAN PRESENT TENSE -ERE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE I’ve found that these are a great introduction to, and consolidation of, conjugating Italian verbs. There are 25 high-frequency regular and irregular -ERE verbs in the present tense. I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the formal Lei form being identical to the conjugation of singular pronouns. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, students whose first language is English do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in both languages, and I frequently see attempts such as io sto lavorare for I am working or similarly io faccio lavorare for I do work. I refer frequently the difference in usage, and this is important particularly when explaining when and in which contexts to use the simple present and the continuous / progressive present tense. The Challenge One Answer Key has both simple present and continuous present tense to help embed this notion a little more. The structure of the resource is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1 each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2 gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 3 students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive form, from an English prompt. answer key I encourage my students to visit the Ideas, Notes and Next Steps template regularly, reflecting not only on the verbs and conjugations they feel confident about, but also how they think their general skills in Italian might be developing through the activity - and equally importantly, what they can reasonably do to keep improving. They note any new verbs they learn, which helps them to build a really comprehensive verb vocab bank. We also use this to guide and inform whole-group discussion about progress and learning in general, which is a really useful learning activity in itself. SPANISH IR VERBS PRESENT TENSE

GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PRESENT TENSE IR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish IR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 Spanish students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the Spanish present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including for example the singular formal pronoun Usted form being identical, which is fairly standard, but the conjugation of the formal singular Usted does frequently lead to errors at this stage of learning. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt. The game cards and accompanying Recall and Write activities have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if any of the words or phrases don’t feature in your medium or even longer-term learning plan: this is a great way of encouraging your students to engage with new language, and to build their vocabulary at the same time. I’ve given the plural of nouns, as well as the gender - plurals and gender are key to recreating accurate Latin, so this introduces students to those concepts from the very beginning of their learning. Set 2 features 45 beginning words & phrases in the following categories: The Animal Kingdom Numbers & Roman Numerals 11-20 Greetings & Conversation My Family High-frequency Verbs The Reference, Recall & Write book has 8 pages. It includes an alphabetical Latin-English reference list of all 45 words & phrases. Students find this really useful as a learning support resource, and it comes in very handy for quick vocab quizzes too! The Recall and Write challenges help students familiarise themselves with, and really embed, the range of vocabulary in the set, and also get used to reading, writing and spelling in Latin. There are two written recall challenges: Written Recall Challenge One: This challenge requires students to write the corresponding English word or phrase from a Latin prompt. The words and phrases are in random, rather than category order - this challenges the memory more than when the vocab is in the order learners first learn it in. Written Recall Challenge Two: This challenge requires students to write the corresponding Latin word or phrase from an English prompt. The words and phrases are again in random, rather than category order. I encourage students to visit the Ideas, Notes and Next Steps page regularly, reflecting not only on the words and phrases they feel confident about, but also how they think their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing are developing - and equally importantly, what they can reasonably do to keep improving. LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-20 WORD SEARCHES

(0)
PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-20 10 differentiated word searches with answer keys focusing on Latin Numbers & Roman Numerals 0-20 ideal for beginner Latin learners of all ages - I’ve found that word searches are the ideal activity for young and beginner students of Latin to engage with the written word in Latin, at the same time developing essential beginner Latin vocabulary. They are easily differentiated - and the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows. The word searches are really versatile, and I use them in lots of different contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year. There are 5 Latin to Latin grids, where learners are prompted with the Latin words, and look for them in Latin in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. Grid 5 increases the challenge by prompting the Latin numbers as gap fills. There are 2 English to Latin grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in Latin, they also complete the Latin word list on each page. Grid 8 is also Latin to Latin, where learners have to make a simple calculation in order to establish what Latin word they are looking for in the grid, and again they write out the Latin number in a separate column. Grids 9 & 10 prompt with Roman Numerals, and learners also complete the word column in Latin. There is an answer grid for each word search, and this is essential for helping students develop more independence in their learning - they also give students an additional opportunity to engage with the target language, and are a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! PRIMARY FRENCH DISPLAY WORD WALL DAYS MONTHS SEASONS This Primary French word wall display creates an instant introduction to the days of the week and the months and seasons of the year in French, and really brightens up the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab games for example. FRENCH CITIES WORD SEARCHES

FRENCH CITIES 5 DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY AND GRID TEMPLATES I use these word searches as a way of introducing the geography and cities of France to my students, as well as to give them opportunity to practice their beginning French skills - they’re differentiated, and multi-skill. The grid template allows them to apply their French very practically, as they create grids for each other - I always encourage my students to explore France a little more, and find other cities and towns too. When I create word searches, I always create corresponding answer keys - for me, they’re an integral part of the learning activity, helping students develop independence in their learning, and offering further opportunity to engage with language. There’s a reference sheet of all cities included in the searches, which you can share between small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as an all-year-round reference. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries, sub/cover lessons, pick-me-ups or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re discussing the geography of France. PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 WORD SEARCHES

(0)
PRIMARY LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 AND GREAT FOR YEAR 7 LATIN TOO 10 differentiated word searches focusing on LATIN NUMBERS 1-10. They’re great for independent learning - I just give my students free choice to choose the level of challenge, making sure that over time, everyone really does challenge themselves! I always give answer keys too - they give students a further opportunity to practise their numbers, and to both self and peer assess. Students at this age are developing learning skills in general, as well as learning Latin, and I’ve found that this particular design of grid and challenge level, works really well as an all-round learning resource. Word searches sometimes get bad press for being too easy, and with little learning value, but I disagree, and my students love the ones I design for them. I always build in differentiation, with each grid increasing in challenge - the grids are really inclusive, challenging all learners. There are 5 LATIN-LATIN grids - the prompt words are in Latin, and the grid words are also in Latin. Each grid is progressively more challenging. There are also 5 ENGLISH-LATIN grids - the prompt word is in English, and students have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. On each grid there’s a number list they have to complete too for extra practice. Each grid is on 8.5 x 11 (A4) landscape format - this format has always worked best for my beginner Latin learners. GERMAN PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN HIGH-FREQUENCY VERBS PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency verbs in the present tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCHES

PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS Los números cero - diez: diez sopas de letras! My Primary Spanish learners really enjoy learning their vocab with word searches. In terms of pedagogy, they really are a great way of providing students with opportunities not only to embed their vocab, but also to engage with the written word and spelling in Spanish. They are really easy to differentiate, ensuring that students have a series of progressive challenges. I use word searches regularly, and have a stock of them ready in folders - they’re ready to go for starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers or activities for cover lessons, at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing numbers in Spanish - ideal for high school beginner Spanish too. In this set, there are five Spanish to Spanish grids, with the Spanish words as prompts. Students then find them in Spanish in the grid. A great way of really consolidating vocab is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There’s a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they’re looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. I always give my students answer keys for this kind of activity - they help students develop more independence in their learning, give them an additional chance to engage with the language, and they really enjoy correcting their own and each others’ work! The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right, and in my experience, this is really useful for young beginner Spanish learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with the written word in Spanish. PRIMARY GERMAN WORD WALL VOCABULARY DISPLAY GERMAN DAYS MONTHS SEASONS WORD WALL This German word wall display creates an instant introduction to the days of the week and the months and seasons of the year in German, and really brightens up the learning environment too. I like to share essential vocab that we can use in everyday language with my young learners from the beginning of their learning. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing German language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too. These are ideal for both the Primary German classroom, as well as the Year 7 German / beginner high school German classroom. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various locations in the classroom, which enables me to really get the most from my word walls - we do lots of quick vocab quizzes, spelling games and pronunciation practice for example. FRENCH VOCABULARY CHRISTMAS GAMES CARDS & QUIZ #2

KS3 FRENCH PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 198 BEGINNER FRENCH & ENGLISH VOCABULARY CARDS, 99 BEGINNERS FRENCH WORDS & PHRASES WITH A 60-QUESTION MULTI-SKILL QUIZ I think that lessons in the run-up to Christmas provide the perfect opportunity to revisit language we’ve learnt earlier in the school year - my beginner French students really enjoy going back over and consolidating the vocab that they were introduced to right at the beginning of their learning. I created various sets of Christmas-themed vocab cards to get them feeling festive - it definitely works! I tend to have several sets all ready, and keep them in learning folders, so that students can choose which vocab groups they want to work on, though often, they like to work with the complete set, so it’s a good idea to have a couple of sets so that there are enough to go round. There’s vocabulary from the following word groups in this set: = Les animaux (indefinite article, all singular) = Les parties du corps (definite article, range of singular and plural) = Le temps = Les fruits et légumes (definite article) = Les matières scolaires (definite article) My students really like to learn independently, and I’ve described a range of games that they particularly enjoy. They love the competitive element of the whole-group quizzes, though the pdf version works really well too for small groups - and if you’re homeschooling. There are a lot of cards, which means some prep - if you can, laminate them, not only because they’re far better to learn with, but also because you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years! The quizzes are no-prep, and good to go - they’re non-editable, because of the Terms of Use of the clipart and fonts I’ve used, so have a quick look through before you play - there is a slide version, moving forward with a single click, and also a pdf version, which students can load onto tablets or similar devices for small-group work - that’s really useful for homeschooling too. There are 3 non-editable files in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. CHRISTMAS DISPLAY POSTERS

CHRISTMAS CLASSROOM DISPLAY WORDS 30 POSTERS These Christmas posters really give your classroom a truly festive feel - learners of all ages enjoy being involved in creating the Christmas display too, deciding where posters look best, in which order and so on. With my younger learners, we also like to discuss other Christmas words and traditions we know in English-speaking and other countries, and create posters we can illustrate and display showing these words - it’s a great multicultural learning opportunity. There’s definitely a UK-Christmas theme with these posters, with words such as mince pies, Queen’s Speech and Christmas crackers. I use the posters as flashcards too - as both posters and flashcards, they’re really useful for developing literacy and practicing reading and spelling. There are 31 Christmas words/images in total, which work equally well in the ESL/EFL classroom too. I always print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity— the posters hand a lot more nicely, and they last for absolutely years! The posters are in portrait format 8.5 x 11 (A4) - and look great displayed in any area of the learning environment. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Christmas green or snow, so 62 posters in total. The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved.
