The cards provide structured talk opportunities, and students are also able to work on developing their listening, reading and writing skills. The language and structures focus on German separable verbs in the present tense. The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in full - we use this as a year-round reference resource too, and it’s useful for quick whole-group translation, vocab and grammar quizzes, which are a great way of revising and revisiting language and grammar in a more interactive and varied way. Students use the Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. GERMAN EUROPE POSTERS FLASHCARDS

(1)
GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS5 GERMAN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES, FLAGS POSTERS Files are non-editable in zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, amended, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These German Europe flashcards / posters are always really popular with my students and great for the beginning of a new school year to decorate your learning environment with specific learning goals. They’re really useful for creating and instant and comprehensive introduction to Europe in German. There are 144 portrait posters (A4, 8.5 x 11) in German showing European countries, capital cities and flags. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your - and your students’ - classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters can help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of European geography. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of Europe a little further, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as France, officially known as Französische Republik - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used Frankreich to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. They’re ideal for the annual Europe Day celebration, and the European Day of Languages, as well as an all year round display. It’s definitely extra prep and expense, but I do always laminate my classroom display posters / flashcards - they hang on the walls more easily, and I recycle them to display at different times of the school year. There are two backgrounds to choose from - World Map or plain, so 144 posters in total. My students find this Europe countries and capitals list freebie helpful: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-europe-countries-and-capitals-list-freebie-12133858 Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including German cross-curricular resources, special offer bundles and freebies. GERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS

(1)
PRIMGERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS two sets of flashcards @ $1.80 each in the bundle Das Obst und Gemüse auf Deutsch 25 fruits & 25 vegetables in German, definite article, masculine & feminine, singular & plural. Using flashcards to introduce and practice language is a popular and successful language teaching and learning method, providing lots of opportunity for vocabulary games and recall. The flashcards are equally useful as classroom posters, keeping key target language prominent and visible, as well as creating a really German ambiance in the learning environment. I use this set to gradually introduce and work on the concept of gender, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward Was ist das? to Ja/nein or Richtig/falsch questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite tricky in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist kein Apfel, das ist eine Banane and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practicing the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohol, Ich habe den Blumenkohl. The key focus on on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. It’s good to move away from predominantly teacher-led activities, and after the initial introduction phase, I have students take turns manipulating the cards and asking the questions. Again, this is a really popular activity, and a very easy way of enabling students to practise asking questions, instead of always responding to them. The fruits are: green apples; red apple; bananas; cherries; dates; fig; green grapes; red grapes; kiwi; lemon; mango; nectarine; olives; oranges; papaya; peach; pears; pineapple; pumpkin; raspberry; redcurrants; rhubarb; starfruit; strawberries; watermelon The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants/aubergines; French/green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 100 posters in total. The fruits and vegetables are in my store separately, at £3.00 each. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. They’re copyright, all rights reserved. They may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. VIELEN DANK UND GUTEN APPETIT!

PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING TIME DISPLAY POSTERS These telling the time posters / flashcards are perfect for creating an instant introduction to telling the time in FRENCH. I’ve found that they’re really useful as visual prompts during lessons, as well as keeping the language fresh as students are introduced and practise how to tell the time. They’re ideal at any time during the school year, but especially as a BACK TO SCHOOL classroom decor resource - it’s good for students to have a focus on FRENCH in their learning environment - ideal for Primary French and Year 7 Beginner French too. The times are o’clock and half past the hour, including midday and midnight. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 56 posters / flashcards in total. Laminate them if you can - they are definitely easier to manipulate if you’re using as flashcards to introduce and/or practise language, and also to display - you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years too. The files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. The license for purchase is a single-user/classroom license only. GERMAN TELLING TIME I HAVE, WHO HAS GAMES #1

(1)
KS3 GERMAN KS4 TELLING TIME O’CLOCK, HALF PAST, QUARTER TO AND QUARTER PAST THE HOUR - TWO GAMES, TWO DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGES! I HAVE, WHO HAS? is a lively & communicative whole-group language learning game. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in GERMAN. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. Half past the hour can be really tricky for beginner German learners, and these kinds of games really help to embed it. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the correct order, starting with the first card, Es ist ein Uhr/Es ist acht Uhr, and ending with the last card Es ist viertel vor zwölf / Es ist viertel nach zwölf. Students can either create a human chain timeline, holding the cards themselves, or a card timeline, on the floor, a longish table or other flat surface. There are two games and two challenges: CHALLENGE 1 with the clock times in numerical order, and the Q & A Ich habe… Hast du…? CHALLENGE 2 with the clock times in topsy-turvy order, and the Q & A Hast du… Ja, ich habe… . This really encourages students to focus on their GERMAN clock times! Students can identify the particular challenge by the colour of the card - the font is also different, so printing is B&W is absolutely fine too. Play either as a whole-group game, or as a team game - which team can complete the challenge first? You can either play the challenges consecutively, or as a team game, swapping the challenges so that each team has a chance to play both challenges. This set features analogue clock times, 1-12, including midday and midnight, with o’clock, half past, a quarter to and a quarter past the hour. There are four cards with eight clock faces per page, which I’ve found to be the ideal size for students learning to tell the time, and with the multi-skill practice the games facilitate. The resource itself consists of a single, non-editable file. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, shard or rewritten in any way, in any format. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß BEIM SPIELEN!

Even my more advanced students like to revisit the vocab, just to be sure they’re confident with it. It’s best to revisit the vocab regularly and frequently over a whole school year, not just when you’re focusing on these specific vocab groups. They can apply their French practically by creating games or vocab quiz cards for each other using the card template. Writing out vocabulary can also really help learners consolidate their vocab - the 18-page workbook has 3 differentiated recall and write challenges. I always like to give my students longer-term reference resources, so I’ve put a full French-English vocabulary list at the front of the workbook. If you can, do laminate the cards - I know it’s time-consuming, but they look great, are better to work and learn with in the classroom, and really do last in great condition for years. Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocab. They enjoy being able to work and learn independently, and I give them regular chances during the school year to play. The focus is on 99 high-frequency GERMAN verbs in the infinitive form. I’ve included reference sheets of all verbs in both alphabetical and topsy-turvy order for students to use as a learning support resource. I’ve classed the game as suitable for ages 11-18, because it really does depend on when your students begin GERMAN - the games work well with any appropriate year group, depending on their starting point. There’s a bit of prep - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games because they last for years, so laminating is definitely worth the time and effort. The resource is non-editable. The game card template lets your students put their knowledge of Latin verbs to the test as they create cards for each other - preferably from memory! There are 198 matching Latin and English verb cards - it’s a lot of prep, particularly if you laminate them - but it’s definitely worth the effort, as they last for years, and are very popular with students across the entire school year. They find that this way of working really does help them to develop their confidence and embed the vocabulary into their longer-term memory. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. They love to quiz and test themselves and each other on a regular basis - it’s a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling tasks’. The target vocabulary includes essential beginner Spanish words and phrases in the following vocabulary groups: = Los saludos = Los días de la semana = Los meses y las estaciones del año = Los números 0-20 = Mi familia = Palabras frecuentes = Frases útiles para la clase = Preguntas y respuestas The 18-page reference, recall and write workbook gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical Spanish-English vocabulary list, which works well as a longer-term reference resource too. The 3 differentiated Recall & Write activities really help students practice and review the vocabulary, and to work on spelling and writing in Spanish: Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a Spanish prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words and phrases in Spanish from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Spanish to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category Notes and Next Steps encourages students to reflect on their learning. Varying teaching and learning methodologies in the languages classroom is really important, and these cards enable students to learn entirely independently. There’s definitely some prep involved - printing, laminating and cutting out - laminating is certainly worth the effort, as the cards are a lot more learner-friendly, and do last for years. Students don’t have to play with full sets - they can work with selected vocabulary groups.
