Oceans are the lifeblood of Earth and humankind. No matter how far from the shores we live, oceans affect our lives and the lives of our families, friends and communities. With every breath we take, every drop we drink, we are all connected to the oceans.
Our planet depends on the vitality of the oceans to support and sustain it and yet our oceans face major threats as a result of human activity; global climate change, pollution, habitat destruction, invasive species and a dramatic decrease in ocean fish stocks.
This age-appropriate presentation aims to;
• Raise awareness around the importance of oceans for all life forms
• Highlight the major threats our oceans face
• Encourage numerous discussions/debates around our planet’s oceans
• Ask students to consider what they can do to support and help Earth’s oceans
This can be used as a stand-alone assembly or as part of your World Oceans Day activities.

1 Unit of 6 Music Lessons
Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2
You do not have to have a musical background to deliver this unit.
In this unit, pupils partake in a range of fun, rhythmic activities which focus on developing listening and responding skills. It can be delivered to a small group of pupils, or as many as you have.
It requires a small selection of percussion instruments a metronome and/or an online metronome. The resources are not prescriptive; simply use the percussion instruments that you have.

Playing a Glockenspiel - Unit 2
(10 Music Lessons)
Suitable for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2.
These units are not mac-friendly.
Comprising of ten detailed, easy to follow music lessons; this unit builds on the skills learned in Unit 1.
It reinforces how pupils play glockenspiels correctly, how to read, play and perform using lettered score. This unit teaches pupils a wider range of songs and introduces two-part harmony.
Pupils also learn to use a wider range of musical terms and signs.

You do not have to have a musical background to teach it.
These resources will support your delivery of the National Curriculum for Music. This unit focuses on Listening and Playing (National Curriculum for Music 2013). In addition, the activities also aid development of a range of wider skills including focus, team-work, performing, coordination and confidence.
