This bundle meets all specification points needed to teach Topic 1 (States of Matter and Mixtures & Purity) from the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Combined Science and Chemistry courses. It also covers all of the theory needed for Topic 2 (Methods of Separation - theory, Methods of Separation - practical, Chromatography and Drinking Water). The only aspect of Topic 2 that is missing is the Simple Distillation Core Practical (I am working on a resource for this), though the theory is all covered above. The bundle includes seven PowerPoints and associated resources sufficient to deliver seven full lessons. Lesson 7Ea “Mixtures” comes with an overview and Equipment list for the full topic. Before delivering this topic, I recommend giving students practical skills training to ensure they can name and draw key lab equipment, and can safely light and use a Bunsen burner. In theory there should be a lesson 8Hd (on Sedimentary Rocks) but the required learning for this is already covered in the Rock Cycle intro lesson.
