German Speaking and Listening Conversation Prompts, Cards and Mats

Are you looking for some ways to encourage speaking and listening in German? These easy-prep conversation prompts and mats will do just that and are ideal as a starter activity to get students thinking and speaking straight away in German. They are great for working in pairs and differentiated so you will be able to use them for the whole class. Speaking and listening are skills that are so important and fun, however many students shy away from this because they don’t want to get this wrong. I would start a lesson with my puppet and model a conversation in German, adding a few words. Then my puppet would ask a few students a question so that they get involved. I would differentiate the questions to the student so some might answer simple questions with their name or ‘Ja’ and I would expect others to answer in more complex sentences. Then all students will use their conversation mats and ask and answer questions with their talking partner. This is a fun and quick way to start the lesson in the target language and engage students in German conversations. These activities help with confidence and fluency. When students are more confident and fluent, they can use the more challenging prompts and mats. Benefits Perfect for use as a lesson starter Ideal to use as an oral task Encourages speaking and listening skills Differentiated to target different skill levels Helps students practice their conversation skills A resource that you will use often **You will get: ** 3 mats in different designs 50+ cards in German (including some English prompts that encourage using German vocabulary without the support of hearing the language first) Blank mats to add their new vocabulary/ questions over the term and/ or year Blank prompt cards for you or students to write questions Instructions/Tips for Implementation Students can work in pairs using the conversation cards and mats at the beginning of the lesson to encourage speaking and listening skills. They can also use the blank templates to add new vocabulary as they learn throughout the year therefore making their learning personal to them. They can also use the 50+ prompt cards for a quick speaking and listening activity. Provide the cards with the topics that you have covered recently and mix in topics from a while ago to refresh this vocabulary If you like this resource, I would appreciate it if you could leave a review and Thank you. Subtraction from 5 10 12 & 20 - 4 fun Maths Activities for KS1

(0)
Are you looking for summer subtraction from 5, 10, 12 & 20 fun games for Key Stage 1? These Roll and Subtract activities will engage your students as they practice their subtraction fact fluency, which is an important mathematical skill. The games will help to memorise and recall maths facts easily and quickly. Taking away, or subtracting will be something they will find fun to do as they race to get the most kites. The games are for students to play in pairs. Use them as part of a subtraction lesson to practice these skills or a stand-alone activity for students who need extra practice with subtraction and prefer to play games rather than do lots of maths sheets. Checking that their friends have got the correct answer means that they have instant feedback if they have the answer right and if they disagree they can work it out together. Provide manipulatives such as counters or Numicon or a 10 frame to support learning or encourage students to use their mental maths strategies to work out and find the answers. Use small whiteboards if necessary to illustrate how they arrived at the answers. Sharing and discussing these with their partners will lead to verbalising what they are doing which will add to their learning experience. Have an adult play with a student in a 1 to 1 scenario to discuss and explain how to subtract and strategies on how to do this so that this becomes clearer – e.g. if subtracting from 5 model using their fingers, if taking away from 10 remind them of number bonds to 10, if subtracting from 12 remind them that they can split the number they are subtracting into 2 and other number so go back 2 to 10 and then subtract the other number etc. Here is what you will get: Subtraction game – taking away from 5 in colour and black & white Subtraction game – taking away from 10 in colour and black & white Subtraction game – taking away from 12 in colour and black & white Subtraction game – taking away from 20 in colour and black & white Dice and spinners to choose from for each game – they are clearly labelled which ones to use for which game Instructions for the games Counters to cut out – in case you prefer to use the games often, students can cover their shapes with their coloured counters - this makes the games faster too Backs for Games to make them look more attractive if you laminate and store them with other games in your maths centre These games are perfect for homework and home education. The games are ideal for maths centres Challenge your students to the harder games This is a perfect resource to have ready for early finishers Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play. Adding 2-digit Numbers Fun Activities for Summer Maths Addition Games

(0)
Looking for adding 2-digit numbers games **for year 2, 3, & 4 students to practice addition? They will love these Roll, Add and Find fun summer games for kids for addition 2-digit numbers, using their key mathematical skills to find the answers. These engaging maths games are perfect for the summer with a beach theme Students will be eager to play and work out the answers using these resources and see who can solve the most addition problems, circle the most sandcastles with their colours and claim these as theirs. Challenging the partner on whether they are adding up correctly, will keep them engaged and wanting to play these games more than once. To make this easier for those students who need manipulatives, provide counters or other maths resources you have for counting e.g. Numicon. This gives a great connection between concrete maths i.e. handling objects and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written sums. A great game for using mental maths and adding up in our heads too. Use them in adult-led activities where you can assess their speed of recall and accuracy of working out as they play - especially as you may be thinking about end-of-year reports or fun back-to-school activities to get back into thinking mathematically. The games come at the right time to evaluate how quick they are at working out e.g. 15 + 38 or 38 + 95 or to start off a new year in a fun way. Differentiation is easy - use the easier addition games using 1-digit and 2-digit numbers for students who need simpler additions to solve and support this with manipulatives or challenge them to add 2 2-digit numbers. You will get: 1 game for adding 1 digit + 2-digit numbers 1 game for adding teen + 2 digit numbers 1 game for adding 2 2-digit numbers Instructions come with each game 4 dice (letters relate to the dice used in the games). The instructions on the individual games explain which dice to use 4 spinners Coloured counters to use instead of colouring in - this makes it a faster game that can be used repeatedly. Patterns to add to the backs of the games to make them look more professional This is a perfect resource to have ready for early finishers or to play as part of a lesson in pairs practicing adding and getting better at working them out. The games will make students work faster, more accurately and become more confident with addition. They are also ideal for the maths centre to play during other times when you need a quick educational resource ready e.g. wet playtime or supply days. Your students will love playing these games. Prep is easy – Print, cut up and play If you like this resource, I would appreciate a review. Thank you. Please check out TES Shop (UK) Copyright © OwletLearning

You will get: Game for adding to 10 Game for adding to 12 Game for adding to 20 1 game for adding to 100** (99 is the highest addition) Instructions for each game 5 dice 1 to 5, 1 to 6, 2 to 7, 5 to 10 and a die with 2 digit numbers. Instructions on the individual games explain which dice to use 5 spinners 1 to 5, 1 to 6, 2 to 7, 5 to 10 and a spinner with 2 digit numbers. These can be easily interchanged with dice and are easier to make Coloured counters to use instead of colouring this in - this makes it a faster game that can be used repeatedly.
