They can start working with the sentence builders with ENG & FR translations (choral repetition, dictations, trapdoor activities, etc.) Then, you could give them the same sentence builders without the EN translations and do some more work on it. To finish, there are sentences for them to translate. They could do some from memory. Pupils should also be pushed to make their own sentences / come up with their own examples I hope this helps.
