Resources relating to the Great Reform Act of 1832. These can be used as part of a wider unit of work on electoral reform (perhaps leading in to women's suffrage?) Included is a summary of the Great Reform Act; a task where pupils have to differentiate between the voting systems of 1830 and 1835; and a PowerPoint presentation for the lesson. Also referenced are two political cartoons that show a for/against view of reform. These should be printed out and distributed for pupils to analyse during the lesson. This is a great introduction to political cartoons, which are used extensively at GCSE.

Resources relating to the AQA 9-1 GCSE Option ‘Russia, 1894-1945’. Included is 2-3 lessons’ worth of activities introducing the Russia unit for GCSE, examining the state of Russia in 1894 and the problems of industrialisation. The PowerPoint includes teaching information, copies of the worksheets, sources and videos (where relevant). There are also practice exam questions included in the slide (usually 1-2 per topic). This is part of a larger bundle covering the entire unit, which can be purchased from my shop. This resource was originally designed for OneNote teaching; however, it can easily be adapted to exercise book teaching in under 5mins. Simply change the phrase ‘in OneNote’ to ‘in your exercise books’ on the PowerPoint. The ‘Understanding the Modern World’ course textbook from Hodder is needed to access some of the activities (however, alternatives can no doubt be found).

A fun task to consolidate pupils' understanding of heraldry. I used this with my Year 7 pupils alongside the KS3 text book by Aaron Wilkes. Students will need to be introduced to what Heraldry is before moving on to this task. They are provided with tables that detail the various colours/animals/symbols that can be found on Coat of Arms. They then have to think of their own and answer questions. Also included is a blank shield where students can design their own Coat of Arms with a motto (we used the tables for this, e.g. 'Honesty. Strength. Loyalty.'

A full week/two weeks of resources for teaching the impact of war on migration to Britain to Year 9 (could also be adapted for a more-able Year 8 class, if pursuing a three-year GCSE course). This is part of a wider ‘Empires and Migration’ topic and also includes an examination of the Windrush. Included is a lesson pack covering this aspect of a scaffolded ‘Empires and Migration’ topic (brought down from GCSE - other lesson packs available on my shop!) Each lesson pack includes a PowerPoint (with integrated videos, worksheet screenshots and activities), individual worksheets and contemporary sources (where required) These resources were originally designed for paperless teaching on OneNote; however, it will work perfectly for exercise book teaching (simply replace ‘on OneNote’ with ‘in your exercise books’ on the slides). The Oxford and Hodder ‘Empires and Migration’ textbooks are needed to teach some aspects of this range of resources! (However, these are not widely used and activities could easily be adapted).

A 60+ page booklet with detailed teacher notes relating to the Edexcel A Level unit: Germany, 1871-1990. Please note that (as many schools will be doing), the first Depth topic (Germany 1871-1914) will be covered by another teacher for coursework, therefore this resource only covers the period from c.1914-1990. These notes have been taken from a variety of textbooks and history books; they are the perfect aid for teaching this unit or could be used to supplement existing knowledge. The knowledge and content here can be easily adapted to suit other exam boards.

The display consists of several heads of historical figures in a line across the board; however, each head is positioned at the actual height they would have stood (5ft 5in, 6ft 2in etc.) Students love walking past and measuring themselves against Hitler, Queen Victoria etc. Included are several Historical heads, the names/heights, titles and a key for the side of the display. All that is needed are coloured strips that run vertically from the bottom of the display to the relevant head (see link). I used the coloured border rolls for these! Enjoy!

A selection of exam questions based on the four chapters/sections of the Hodder Restoration England GCSE from AQA. Some of these have come from the specimen papers on the AQA website, whereas others have been created by me (DISCLAIMER: THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS A PRECISE REFLECTION OF WHAT COULD COME UP IN THE EXAM!) I have also given examples based on the Royal Observatory Environment Study.

Five Powerpoint presentations introducing the study of witchcraft for A Level students. I used these as part of the AQA Historical Enquiry module (hence the date range, as it is roughly 100 years between two Acts). I now intend to use these for the new OCR Popular Culture and the Witchcraze unit to introduce some of the key topics. These presentations are designed to be a starting point for anybody wishing to study the early modern witch craze. Due to the breadth of the topic, there is inevitably going to be more information that can be added to these. Please note that these are just basic introductions to the topic and should be supplemented with other resources.

A set of resources relating to the A-Level unit: Germany, 1871-1990 from Edexcel; however, the material could be adapted to suit most exam boards. Included is a set of detailed PowerPoint presentations relating to the 'Birth of Democratic Germany' depth topic; specifically these materials relate to the period up until 1914-19 (later periods will be covered in future resources, so please keep an eye on my shop!) Also included are a couple of blank revision diagrams that students can use during the teaching process. These resources would be invaluable for any teacher teaching this Edexcel unit. They provide an excellent supplement to existing materials on this topic.

A set of 22 revision dominoes for the OCR Later Tudors course. Can also be used for any course covering the Mid Tudor Crisis and reign of Elizabeth I. Really useful as a starter activity - hand one domino to each pupil and have them read out the date, the pupil with the corresponding event reads this out and then reads out their date. Two resources for teaching the Second Dutch War as part of the new AQA GCSE topic, Restoration England: 1660-1685. Included is a summary diagram of the Second Dutch War to get pupils understanding the major battles and why both sides were victorious/defeated at each stage. Also included is an in-depth look at the Medway disaster. The handout covers the causes, events and results of the raid; a clear map has also been included to aid students (source: WikiCommons). This resource is intended for revision (it is much simpler to follow than the text book); however, it could also form the basis of a lesson activity. Students could answer questions on the content and stick the sheet into their books.

Two worksheets for KS3/KS4 to encourage students to analyse/evaluate visual sources. The content relates to the Suffragettes and the sources show the Women's Suffrage movement in a positive and negative light. Students are tasked with describing the sources, picking out key symbols and inferences. The grid would be a useful group activity where students can analyse the pictures in groups and rotate these every few minutes; the postcard task can then be set for homework.

Two activities to run alongside the OCR or Edexcel Textbooks on the witch craze. This is designed specifically for the A Level Topic: Popular Culture and the Witchcraze of the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries from OCR. Students can read the text book (and read around the topic), adding detail to their family tree. What were the relationships? Who were the characters? What happened to each of the accused witches? They can also fill in the timeline using the information from the text book and other sources. This resource is intended to supplement other resources on the Lancashire Witch Trials.
