Identifying Word Classes
These exercises allow students to understand word classes within paragraphs. Very often they need to identify a word when it stands by itself therefore sometimes they don’t understand that words can change word classes. These exercises allow them to see them within context.
HOMOPHONES KS2

It’s a great additional resource for Early Morning work, Homeschoolers and even can be printed a unit at a time for homework. No need to go looking for the next worksheet to issue to a student. Just follow the units. There is a comprehensive answer sheet at the end which is simply laid out so students can check their own work.

Sentence Forms
This is a comprehensive document clearly giving the definitions and effects of the different sentence forms: Statements, questions, commands, exclamations, simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, compound-complex sentences. Each sentence type has examples which helps further understanding. This is an excellent resource for analysing sentence forms in literature. As a teacher myself, I find plenty of resources explaining what the types of sentences are but never enough in explaining the different effects in can have on a piece of writing. The detailed explanations of the effects make it very handy for secondary students especially those sitting their GCSE exams.

This booklet is designed to generate discussion between peers, teachers and family members of all age groups. It consists of 10 pictures with open questions. They are excellent to work in a small group or even a whole class group. It aims to get children to think about situations and scenarios and learn new ideas from others. You can laminate each page and pass them around groups as often as you like. It can even be used to generate stories, poems, diary entries …
They could also be sent home to generate discussions with family members. It’s amazing what you can learn from others!
