This is a 1 page Ice Breaker activity that seeks to have class participants understand the impact that first impressions can make on personal and business relationships. It is a fun, easy to run activity that participants enjoy. Suitable for communication skills lessons in particular.

This resource contains various phone call situations written on role play cards that occur at work. It also contains a set of blank cards for learners to make up their own scenarios as well as message pad templates. Learners can role play situations and practice their telephone answering skills.
It is important that the person answering the call uses correct telephone etiquette and takes down the message accurately.
They can be used as part of or a whole lesson on telephone etiquette, which is an important customer service skill.
Instructions:
1. Use the Word document to make any changes to the scenarios. Go straight to 2 if no changes are required.
2. Print out as many copies of page 3 as you need. (Will depend on number of pairs).
3. Cut out with scissors or guillotine
4. Page 5 contains phone message pads. Use them to take messages.
To do the activity, all you need is two students, one with paper and pen for taking a message. Have your students sit back to back so they cannot use non-verbal cues to understand what their partner is saying. That way the role-play will be more like a real telephone conversation.

This diagram can be printed out for ESOL learners who are studying the future tenses. It covers Present Continuous, Present Simple, Be going to and Will. The diagram demonstrates both useage and form and provides examples. The can be incorporated into a lesson or used on its own.
It also has a handout for students to complete. They do this by writing their own sentences into the speech bubbles using the correct form.
When I used it, I had a colour copy enlarged to A3 and also provided the learners with an A4 copy. They very much appreciated it.
Homophones are words that have the same sound (pronunciation) but different meaning and (usually) different spelling.
Included in this document are 66 pairs of common homophones. These can be printed, laminated, cut out and used in various activities to practice correct spelling, pronunciation and meaning of words.
There is a pdf file and a word document so that you can edit if you wish to put in your own subject homophones.

This document contains common words that are found in Health and Safety documentation in the workplace that everyone should be familiar with. On the first page the word is listed with a plain English definition to the right. The next two pages contain cut outs so that a mix and match activity can take place with learners. This is suitable for those with low levels of literacy and / or English as a second language learners. I have put this into practice and it has been very well received within the workplace.
I split the class into groups and they have a competition to see who can finish first and / or get 100% accuracy. Leads to good discussions as well.
This resource contains three items. One is a board game and the other two are Posters that explain the grammar rules associated with present and past forms of the verb To Be. Examples are provided.
For the board game you will need a dice and counters. It is a simple game whereby learners get to practice using the Verb To Be in sentences. It can be printed out, enlarged and laminated. (optional).
The poster can be used as a handout and / or displayed on the wall.

This resource contains 10 rules and example cards that can be used in the following ways:
1. As a revision e-book for anyone that needs a quick refresh on the most common writing errors.
2. As a group or pair activity for learners to practice and test each other in various ways.
Instructions / Ideas for Group Activities
Activity 1 – Group or pair competition
1. Print out the rules that you would like your learners to work on. (Laminate to keep them fresh, if you want).
2. Hand out 1 card to each pair or group. Have them read it and complete the short challenge. (Check to see if they have it correct – an answer sheet is provided)
3. Learners then present their task to the rest of the groups to complete (on whiteboard). This can be timed.
4. Groups get 1 point for each task that is correct.
5. Groups then brainstorm ideas to remember the associated rules.
6. Points are tallied up and the winner is announced.
Activity 2 – Group discussion and trouble shoot session
1. Learners select a card and read it to the group
2. They complete the task themselves first of all writing up sentence and answer on whiteboard.
3. Group members state whether they agree or not with the answer and share their thoughts
4. The correct answer is revealed by the teacher
5. Groups brainstorm ideas to remember the rules.
Activity 3 – Individual work
1. Print out the resource in its entirety, or print out parts that you’d like to work on.
2. Learners complete by themselves, and then check their answers in pairs.
3. Answers revealed by teacher and corrected if necessary.
Activity 4 – As a Warm up Activity
1. Select one card at the beginning of the session
2. Group discuss and agree the answer for the task.
3. In pairs or individually think up more tasks to challenge the rest of the group.

This resource is for those that are wanting to improve their vocabulary skills around Health and Safety. Often the words in policies and documentation are not clear and straightforward. This is a fun way to learn. Can be used as a lesson starter, or as a review at the end of the lesson (exit ticket).
These flash cards can be used individually, with pairs, teams or groups of learners.
Teams compete to find the correct word that is a best fit for the definitions. Ask them to write 1-12 or 1-4 on a piece of paper or device. If you have less time use the slides that contain 4 words only.
Time learners and ask them to write their answers down for their pair, team or group.
Once the time is up, click on each square to reveal the correct answer. (answers may differ and this provides an good opportunity for discussion – however to get a point, the team must have the word that is listed on the screen).
Tally up the correct results to find a winner!
