This A3 puzzle sheet contains several different activities about the planets, solar system and space. The activities are as follows: Unscramble the planets and other space related words. Label the different space related pictures. Find the space related terminology in the word search. Fill-in the blanks for these statements about the planets and our solar system. Draw a picture of an astronaut walking on the moon. Match the space related terms with their correct definition. Bonus: Write Neil Armstrong’s first words as he took his first steps on the moon Because of its size, this activity sheet lends itself nicely to pair work. Children really enjoy the variety of activities available. The document is fully editable so you can make adjustments to suit your needs. The Solar System Fact File Worksheet

(0)
This worksheet is made up of 2 parts. The first involves filling in the missing information for the table about the 8 planets in our solar system. Children will need to research and find the information using books and/or the internet. Please see the preview for further information about the groups of information required. The second part is a true or false activity with statements that directly relate to the information in the table. This is quite an extensive activity and children will need plenty of time to collate their research and fill it in correctly. It works well as a small group activity (2-3 children). All the answers are included on the second page. I hope you enjoy this resource! If you have a moment, please leave a review. Thank you.

The Solar System - A3 Cut and Stick Activity

(0)
This worksheet contains pictures of all 8 planets in our solar system with their names. The idea is for the children to cut them up and stick them in the correct position in order from the sun. Simple, fun and effective way for children to remember their order. As an additional task they could make up their own mnemonic to help them more easily remember their order. I hope you like this resource! Please leave a review if you have a moment. Thank you.

40 Planet Fact Cards Matching Game

(0)
This document is made up of 40 different cards (4 fact cards for each of the 8 planets in our solar system). Please see the preview for insight on the variety of different facts. Ideally, print on A3 and cut up the cards. The idea is for children to match the facts up to the correct planet. They could also put the planets in order from the sun as an additional task. I find this best suited to groups of 3-4 children so print off enough copies for your class. It works well as a starter to a unit on space but also could be used during or at the end to see how much they have learned. If you can, laminate the cards for future use. I hope your children enjoy this activity! Please leave a review if you’re satisfied.
Drawing Electric Circuit Diagrams

Drawing Electric Circuit Diagrams

(0)
This worksheet is made up of pictures of 5 real electric circuits. The main idea is for children to look at the photos and then use the provided symbols to draw the corresponding electrical circuit diagrams. The symbols are provided in a table at the beginning of the worksheet and there are questions after each circuit. Questions probe children’s observation, connections with real life, problems with the circuits and ways to improve them. This worksheet can word as a nice introduction or even a follow-up to children building circuits for themselves. They could even build them along side completing the worksheet. I hope this helps your children to draw electrical circuits properly as well as improve their general understanding of electronics.

This worksheet has a diagram showing four common electrical symbols and their pictures - battery/cell, lamp, cables/wires and a switch. The children have to draw an electrical circuit for a light with a switch. The second part of the worksheet is a fill in the blanks activity in which children use the words from the box to complete the paragraph about the circuit. This worksheet serves as a good introduction or reinforcement for children who are just starting to learn about electrical circuits and the symbols used to draw them.

States of Matter Worksheet
SherwenSherwen

States of Matter Worksheet

(0)
This worksheet is comprised of a table for children to fill in information about the three states of matter - solids, liquids and gases. The first row is for the names of each. The second row has a beaker outline for children to draw the arrangement of atoms or molecules for that particular state of matter. The third row is to describe in writing the basic properties of each state of matter and the final row is for examples of each. I use this worksheet in class to reinforce information about the states of matter. The diagrams are usually copied from the board or at least a diagram from the internet. For the rest of the content, I see how much the children can fill in independently before presenting the full set of information needed to complete the worksheet. Using the children as actual atoms is a fun addition to help explain the properties of each state of matter. For example, a group of children can stand in an orderly grid, shaking (vibrating) on the spot. Another child can act as a heat source and when they get near, the atoms start to vibrate faster before breaking off and then moving around, but only within the carpeted area. This can then continue through to gases and then reversed. It’s also a great way to introduce the names for the changes in state, which could also be added onto the worksheet with arrows showing the direction of change for evaporation, condensation, freezing and melting.
Conductors and Insulators Worksheet and Short Experiment

Conductors and Insulators Worksheet and Short Experiment

(0)
This worksheet comprises of a fill in the blanks paragraph all about electrical conductors and insulators, a space for a experiment setup diagram and a results table. The children are expected to complete the fill in the blanks activity first. You could help them out by providing a word bank on the board/projector. They should then draw a circuit which will enable them to test the conductivity of different materials. For this you will ideally need some batteries, wires and either a motor, LED or Light bulb. I usually have children work in pairs for the experiment but complete their own worksheet. Before testing the materials the children have selected they need to make a prediction or hypothesis about whether their material will conduct electricity or not. *This document is fully editable so you can make changes where you please. *
Shadows and What Changes Them Worksheet

Shadows and What Changes Them Worksheet

(0)
This worksheet comprises two parts. The first is a fill in the blanks section where ideally the children test objects using a light source and fill in with the help of the words from the table. The second part can also involve some testing done throughout the day or could be done after the fact. It involves drawing where the sun would be at different times of the day and then drawing an object and its corresponding shadow. Children learn about the ways that a shadow can be affected and how and relate it to the shadows of objects caused by everyday objects blocking light from the sun. As an extra fun activity, have the children draw around their own shadows at different points during the day. It helps to have a compass too to record the direction the sun is shinning in. *This download comes as both a PDF and a fully editable DOC, so you can change it to suit your needs. *

In teaching the topic of sound and look at vibrations and how sound travels, the children perform this practical. It involves making the paper-cup phones by following the instructions and writing it up using the scientific method. The equipment and method are done already but the children are expected to select their own hypothesis and write up a short analysis and conclusion.
Sources of Light Practical Worksheet

Sources of Light Practical Worksheet

(0)
This worksheet involves children thinking of different sources of light and writing them under the respective headings; luminous or non-luminous. They can then also label each source as artificial or natural using the first letter of each. I also have the children draw a small illustration after each. There are two of the worksheets on one A4 page. *The document is fully editable. *

Electrical Conduction Experiment Write-up Sheet
SherwenSherwen

Electrical Conduction Experiment Write-up Sheet

(0)
This worksheet is a full scientific write-up of a conduction experiment which tests the electrical conduction of different classroom materials. Each part of the scientific method is explained and some parts are partially complete so the children have to fill in the rest. To complete the experiment and write-up, they will need a simple circuit - battery, wires and some sort of small appliance such as a bulb, buzzer or motor. Encourage some creative material choices as they perform the experiment and make sure they write down what material it is made from, for example a metal ruler. Water and water with salt dissolved in it are both interesting substances to hypothesise about and test for conductivity. *The files included in this download are a fully editable DOC and a PDF version of the same. *
