Metacognition is basically thinking about thinking and it is widely considered that this mindset can positively impact on learning. We do it all the time in art education, but we sometimes don’t realise it. Hopefully this will help. It is a word document, so you can add your own comments and personalise it for you own needs.

Do your students ever complain that they don’t see the point of visual art education? I know mine do! So, I give them this handout to help them see the amazing opportunities that art provides and how the skills learnt through art education support other subjects and simply add a wealth of qualities to a person’s life.
