I am a Teacher of MFL in an inner city school which over the last five years has achieved outstanding results in MFL. My shop includes a collection of my resources including for GCSE French and the innovative projects created for the Y7 project based curriculum such as Les Monsieurs-Madames. Please note that the money I make from my sales goes to support my son who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy a life limiting condition to get the equipment and treatment abroad that he needs.

GCSE School rules preparing to write sheet

This is a worksheet that I recently used in an observation lesson. It supports students in building up sentences so that they can write a short paragraph about school rules. I have added grading as this is required at my school. I find this hard to do for single sentences at GCSE in MFL so please feel free to remove this.

This contains two teaching resources: PLEASE NOTE THE VIDEOS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND HAVE BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE WEB AND SET TO PRIVATE. STILL LOTS OF GOOD RESOURCES. Resource A: I made this as a KS3 resource to show students that learning languages can certainly open doors in the future. Plan: Students mark on the progress line what they think of languages at the start of the lesson. Students listen to the celebrities talking about the languages that they speak and complete exercise A of the worksheet. Students read the statements and decide which ones are true. These are reviewed throughout the lesson and are finally marked at the end so that students can reflect on their learning throughout the lesson. The resources also include a version of the Game of Life. This is based on real life accounts of linguists. The links to the videos are in the footnotes of the powerpoint slides. Resource B Students complete the word search on page one of the workbook. This has some of the jobs that you can do with a language. Students then play Call my Bluff (explained on the ppt), This game matches job descriptions and jobs. Students then look at some of the international comapnies that recruit linguists by playing a snap game. The lesson ends with a true false test on why languages are important. This is also on resource A One of the video links is used again in resource B. I made resource B to follow on from A that I had used in the previous year.

It also contains templates for worksheets such as true/false/not in text and match up. The second resource are powerpoint activity slides of activities that you can use for consolidating new vocabulary in lessons. The pictures correspond to French and German. Again, this is a massive time saver!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WHY STUDY LANGUAGES VIDEO HAS RECENTLY BEEN MADE PRIVATE BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER THINGS TO DO. THE FIRST VIDEO STILL WORKS AND IS ON THE NOTES PAGE OF THE SLIDE. Ordering drinks - board game

Ordering drinks - board game

(0)
This board game is for KS3 and or GCSE. The game is best played by the teacher setting a time limit. Students travel round the board and have to complete various translation activities of either ordering drinks or saying the part of the waiter/waitress by landing on squares and collecting cards for a correct translation. It is a fantastic activity to help to build confidence and so that students can master key phrases and drinks vocabulary. It also contains some simple opinions too. I would advise that you print the waiter cards on one colour and the customer cards on another. At the end of the time limit students count up their cards and the student with the most is the winner. The vocabulary needed for this game includes phrases such as: Je voudrais Je vais prendre Mon ami voudrait C’est combien? C’est tout? A mon avis C’est vraiment

This bundle is a collection of worksheets that consolidate student learning mainly through matching up vocabulary and short translations. All of the worksheets can be used in class but are also fantastic for cover or for non specialists as the majority of the vocabulary that students need is inbuilt into the sheets.
