Teaching is my true passion and I love making interesting, interactive resources. I'm a bit of a secondary generalist as I teach English (KS3 and IGCSE), Science (KS3 Science and GCSE Biology), KS3 Humanities and GCSE Environmental Management. I've also dabbled in primary school teaching in the past. As such, my shop is a varied mix of resources! Hope you enjoy looking around. Based on the KS3 Year 8 Human Heart topic, this resource guides students through the dissection of a pig's heart. I have also created a worksheet to recap heart external and internal structure that is included. I did this lesson about mid-way through our topic on the heart and it really helped students to grasp the theoretical content.

Task was developed for my IGCSE Environmental Management Class. Students must imagine that they are farmers applying for a bank loan to purchase a piece of land - must justify why the piece of land is perfect for intended use based on geology and geomorphology of the landscape. Perfect for practical application of knowledge about the impact of soil on agriculture and how this can be manipulated. Cross curricular links with English and as students must use appropriate conventions for a formal letter. Students are also encouraged to include detailed plans/sketches of intended farm.

I developed this class for a Year 9 Environmental Sciences class following our unit on ecosystems and interdependence. It's a great task for getting students to discover more about the wider reaching consequences of the disasters they hear about and see on the news.

This is a class task in the style of a ‘Model UN’ debate. The class is divided into groups which represent the USA, Britain and France. These groups must work together to develop a peace treaty to officially end WW1. The terms of peace must specifically deal with what punishments/sanctions should be placed on Germany to prevent them from trying to start a war again. The teacher plays the role of ‘Germany’ as she is not allowed to speak or contribute to the conference in any way (I jokingly placed a symbolic gag over my mouth for part of the lesson) I ran this following on from a lesson about the losses each of the ‘Big 3’ suffered during WW1. I also really encouraged my students to get into character as their countries and imagine what they (the country) would want rather than what they (the student) would want for themselves and Germany.

This Scheme of Work covers Part 1 of Trevor Noah’s autobiography: Born a Crime (The first 8 chapters). It includes tasks for each chapter, designed to cover reading and writing outcomes in a fun, engaging way. I did it with my mixed Grade 8/9 class over a few weeks but it can easily be adapted for older grades. This book is such a wonderful way to open up genuine, meaningful discussions about Apartheid and my class is really loving it so far. I have included vocabulary lists for each chapter. I’ve also taken some of the powerpoint slides and created classroom notes so that students don’t need to waste too much time writing them down. SOW’s for Part 2 and 3 will follow soon

This is a collection of resources to guide students through a unit on Electrostatic Charge and Static Electricity (4-6 lessons) Topics covered: -Revision of contact and non contact Forces -What is electrical charge? -How is static electricity generated? -Lightning and thunder KS3 Science Curriculum Links: -9Pm1 Describe electrostatics and the concept of charge (Cambridge) -Topics on The Atom, Electrical Charge and Static Electricity (CAPS) There is one power point, 2 worksheets and a practical activity instruction page (Making salt and pepper dance) included . 3 formative assessment tasks are also included in the Power Point as well as links to interactive simulations and embedded videos. Worksheets included are VERY straightforward. They were designed to assess basic understanding of concepts and to ensure students did not have to spend much time writing during the lesson.

I developed this for my Year 9 group when I realised they had never completed an independent science investigation before! It is based on the process for creating a project for the South African Science Expo. However, it can be used in any circumstances where children are planning an investigation and need some guidance. It really helped my Year 9's and I have even given it to my GCSE students

This is a Power Point Presentation which explains what a Political Party is and how political parties appeal to voters with different strategies. It includes a task where students split into groups to form their own political parties - complete with name, slogan, symbol, manifesto and campaign poster/advert I used this at the end of term with my students and it was a great, meaningful time filler. The students had lots of fun but also came up with some great ideas!

A creative homework choice board to encourage students to try new things/learn skills after school. It has a range of activity options from gardening to fixing something that is broken. Students need to complete at least 1 task per week but can do more - they get a special prize at end of term if they complete the whole board. Parents must sign that they see student complete the task. I use this as my homeroom class’ Wednesday afternoon homework. Monday and Tuesday is Grammar and Arithmetic so it’s nice to do something a bit more creative in the middle of the week! Hope you find it useful.
