This final lesson in this collection of resources asks students to consider the cyclical nature of some of the narrative strands, whilst also acknowledging the chronological order of Silas and Eppie's life together that breaks free from this structure. This lesson revisits the question of predetermined fate examined in earlier lessons and links back to the context against which this novel was written.
This resource is available as a single unit, as part of an entire text bundle or as part of a bespoke bundle on request via Twitter @jomarsh1.

This resource offers an engaging route through this final part of the novel. This resource has been designed using a New Zealand mark scheme which is easily edited out to include your own. This resource includes two assessment tasks that are supported in different measures. Lessons and tasks are differentiated and challenge is suitably tough.
These resources offer a complete study of the poem through encouraging both student engagement and independence in different measures. This lesson, uses Jigsaw Activities and a highly effective Challenge Task, peer assessment, discussion points and sharing learning strategies. This collection of resources includes a thorough assessment and evidence of progression proforma, as such this would make an excellent observation lesson on poetry. This lesson closes with recommendations for a homework task and a further poem for study as an Unseen Poem.

This is a choice novel to study to begin to introduce the demands of the GCSE (9-1) curriculum. The narrative is highly relevant to teenagers and wider societal issues and throws up a huge range of opportunities for close analysis. In this resource activiities are courted in games/activities that are fun, supported and differentiated. There are close studies of characters, themes and links between earlier sections of the novel and this one. Consideration of language and structure is fundamental to all lines of enquiry. This resource is available individually, as part of a bundle (the latter three chapters) and as part of a whole text bundle, so do follow me and check out my shop to see these resources as they are released.
This Literacy Programme is 2 of 3 for use with year 7s across an entire term and forms part of a newly written programme that builds on the strengthened demands of the KS2 literacy skills. This resource includes a PDF version of the programme plus an Adobe version that is editable so that the name of your school/behaviour policy can be incorporated into the documents. The powerpoint presentation is used to test the weekly skills gained by your students and allows you to track progress and build in additional intervention for areas of shortfall post completion. The subsequent two booklets for use in this Programme will be posted imminently as will similar programmes for years 8 and 9.
These resources include a detailed lesson plan, powerpoint, individualised learning objectives that are aligned with the new GCSE 9-1 grades, a game board template together with a set of original and fully differentiated questions (I laminated both the board and the questions to aid longevity as the students loved this game and wanted to play it again and again). This lesson was ranked outstanding on every level when observed as the outcomes demonstrated above average progression for every student in the group. These resources are perfect for use with years 9,10 and 11.
A Literacy Programme that rolls out a term at a time, and traverses an entire year. Weekly assessments are pre-prepared on a powerpoint to test the skills being learnt, self assessment sheets are included as are a PDF and Adobe version for ease of adding in school logos. The skills covered by this programme build on those nurtured at KS2 and attempts to bridge the gap between the demands of KS2 and KS4. All resources are available individually as well as part of a bundle.
This resource covers ALL of the question types presented across ALL of the exam boards. It includes guidance on HOW to answer questions for best effect, examiner’s tips, exemplar responses and tasks. This is perfect for boosting grades in the final preparation weeks, filling gaps when other students have exams and for supply teachers, to feel that they really can make a difference in the run up to exams. This resource is thorough, detailed and engagingly presented. I would highly recommend buying the ‘school licence’ on this resource, even if you never have before, as I am confident everyone will want to use this with their groups. This resource is a real game changer for outcome grades and has been weeks in the making. If you would like to combine this with any other of the pick n mix resources in my shop please do contact me on my Twitter account @jomarsh1 and request a bespoke package. Any bundles will attract a 50% discount.
