I originally trained and taught as a Primary school teacher in the UK for several years before moving to The Caribbean. I was given the opportunity to teach my favorite subject (Math) at a Secondary level (middle and high school; G7-11) and jumped at the chance. I aim to make resources which are: 1. Simple but effective - the most important aspect of a teaching resource is that it works. 2. Dynamic - I believe in changing it up! 3. Repetition - students need to regularly repeat key skills.

Multiplications Game For 6, 7, 8, 9 Times Tables

(0)
This multiplication game involves building speed for the 6, 7, 8 and 9 times tables. Fun to play and adds variation to times tables learning. Repetitive play will allow students to build fluency in these multiplication tables. Students play in groups of 2 - 4. How to play Sort the cards into piles based on the shapes on the back. Each student gets a pile and shuffles their cards. On a start signal, students race to place their cards into the correct multiplication table mat. Students stop when the first person has gone through all their cards. Students then use the back of the mats to check all cards are in the correct place. They score 1 point for every card on the correct mat. They lose 2 points for a card on the wrong mat. Student with the most points wins. Teacher Instructions Print mats double sided and laminate. Print cards double sided and laminate. Print instructions for students or show on board. Game can be played in groups of 4 or less. Use as a whole class activity or for carousal activity.

Algebraic Equations Bar Model Dominoes

(0)
Students match bar model to an equation. These algebra bar model dominoes/ loop cards help develop understanding in students who are new to algebra by bridging the gap between concrete and abstract. Covers additions, subtraction, multiplication and division. There are 30 cards in totals. They can be used for a whole class loop task - i.e. they have to line up in a loop with each bar model next to a matching number sentence - or students can also create the loop individually or in pairs. As an extension students can also solve the 1-step equations. A black and white version is available on the final pages of the document.

This interactive, no prep task can be done as a whole class (with the class voting for each option), in small groups or individually. It is suitable for homework or as a main activity. For each part of the story (each slide) students will have to either multiply or divide two fractions, depending on how they want their adventure to continue. This engaging activity is a great way to ensure students gain confidence in operations with fractions. What’s included: A Powerpoint activity that can be shown to the whole class or shared with students. A Powerpoint with the answers to each slide. A worksheet for students to record their answers. This activity is designed to engage students for one lesson. Students can complete the activity multiple times, choosing a different story every time, if they finish early.
