Act 2 Scene 1 Macbeth GCSE English Literature 9-1

(2)
Everything you need to teach Act 2 Scene 1 of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This lesson also includes a handy Act 1 revision worksheet free of charge (can be set as homework). This is also available as part of a complete scheme of work whereby a considerable saving can be made; further details can be found here. The lessons have been created specifically for teaching at GCSE level, and cover the key assessment objectives for AQA: understanding of the text, language and structure, context/themes/author intent (although equally applicable to other exam boards). Differentiated outcomes and tasks allow you to reach all learners, although I would recommend the lessons specifically for middle to higher ability students. Throughout the scheme, students are encouraged to make notes and annotate the text, as this will be a valuable revision tool when preparing for exams. Teacher notes are provided on the PowerPoint to help explain and guide you through all phases of the lesson, with a range of interesting and engaging tasks for you to choose from. Importantly, full analysis is provided for all the tasks set, to enable you to lead interesting and engaging discussions which will deepen the students’ appreciation of the text. Strictly speaking, there is probably a lot more here than you would fit into a 1 hour lesson, so you may wish to spread this over a couple of lessons, or perhaps be a little selective with the tasks you wish to do. Ideal in any GCSE English classroom. In the age of closed book exams, these will not only look great, but help your students revise quotations during each and every lesson. I have also included the PPT files, so that you can print using the ‘2 slides per page’ option and print them off for your students to use as revision cue cards! Most of the key quotations are included here, covering all the chapters and key characters from the novella. The PPT preview is problematic on TES, but they download absolutely fine when purchased. Blood Brothers GCSE Revision and Study Guide.

(1)
This is a 31 page, fully loaded revision, study and comprehension resource for Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers. This has been written with the latest AQA (9-1) English Literature specification in mind, but I’m sure this would work equally well with other exam boards and would also work nicely with the drama specifications such as OCR (I’ve thrown in an OCR GCSE revision mat to accompany the guide so that it works for drama too). I’ve tried to make this revision guide as active as possible, so there are lots of activities and tasks for students to do as they work through the booklet. There’s a good balance of information and engaging tasks for students to work through. Contents run as follows: * Visual summary of plot * Storyboard resource for students to then recall the plot and key events from memory * Exploring the form and structure of the play * Context (students explore key contextual issues and make connections between events from history and events in the play) * Key Quotes - Students explore key quotes through analysis of their meaning and significance, quotes are broken down act by act * Themes - Students make connections between themes, characters and events in the play * Characterisation - Students have to complete a character profile for all the main characters using the study tasks provided * Key Terminology - Exploring some key terminology and vocabulary that will deepen their conceptual understanding of the play as well as impress examiners. * Exam questions - 5 exam questions worded and structured in the same way you will expect to find them on the new 9-1 literature paper *Exam Techniques - Hints and tips on how to maximise performance in the exam. Jekyll and Hyde comprehension and revision booklet - chapter 9

(0)
Developed specifically for the new 9-1 AQA GCSE English Literature specification (yet equally suitable for other examination boards), here is a detailed comprehension work book for Chapter 9 - ‘Dr Lanyon’s Narrative’ of Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. This is basically a mini scheme/unit of work in a booklet and would work brilliantly as either revision for your students, independent study work for cover, tutoring and home schooling, or for students to actively read the text and consolidate their understanding as they read. Huge range of comprehension questions exploring plot, character, themes, context and writer’s messages and intentions. Questions are in chronological order (in line with events from the text) so very easy to follow and is an ideal teaching tool to ensure students are actively reading and engaging with the text. Ideal preparation for the AQA English Literature qualification as all the Assessment Objectives are covered. Covers everything they need to know for the chapter really. Due to the challenging nature of the source text, I’d say this is more geared towards middle and higher ability students. Resource is absolutely ready to go! Drama group role cards. Ideal for KS3 and 4. Great differentiation strategy.

Drama group role cards. Ideal for KS3 and 4. Great differentiation strategy.

(0)
I was finding that in many of my drama groups, certain students would inevitably end up fulfilling the same roles within their groups. For example, there would always be a natural leader emerge who would boss everyone around, and others who were happy to be passengers. This handy little resource shakes things up a bit and makes sure that all members of the group are fully involved and invested in the devising process. It's also a great differentiation strategy in mixed ability groups as you can group students and define roles based on your preferences/rationale. When I was observed for my appraisal, the cards allowed me to show that I had challenged students to step outside of their comfort zone and explore a role they had not previously fulfilled within a group. It's amazing what the students can do when you set them a challenge! These are great to get laminated and you can fill the names in with a whiteboard marker. They can equally just be printed out and written on normally. If you make a purchase and find the resource useful, why not get another one absolutely free? Lesson 1 - Writing with Passion/ Persuasive Techniques. Paper 2 Writing. 9-1 AQA English Language.

(1)
Full lessons preparing students for the writing task on the new AQA Language paper 2 - writing to present a viewpoint. I am already finding that students' writing is often quite 'pedestrian' and lacking in passion and enthusiasm. These lessons try and access the 'inner voice' the writer in order to guide students to a more passionate and enthusiastic method of writing. The PowerPoint also contains a large bank of exam style 'provocative statements' for you to draw on and use with your students in a number of different ways (creative ideas for how best to use the statements is also included in the PowerPoint). This is ideal for developing persuasive and argumentative skills. Brief breakdown: * Students consider topics they care or are passionate about and create mini speeches around this * Consider what makes a passionate speech and how we can import this into our writing * Introduce students to DARCFOREST - a system of rhetorical techniques students can apply in their own writing (complete with modelled sentences) * Students apply these skills in their own writing * Huge bank of provocative statements as you would find them in the AQA paper 2 exam for students to consider, explore and respond to. * Detailed learning review at the end At least 2 lessons worth, range of speaking and listening and active learning contained within the PowerPoint. Also, lesson deals with lots of real life issues so there is a PSHE/ Personal development angle to the lessons too. All there, ready to roll, enjoy! 35 slides jam packed with content. Feedback welcomed to help further improve all resources. This is part of a full revision/writing skills scheme for paper 2, which is purchasable as a bundle.
