It opens looking at potential and what it means It then moves onto confidence, perseverance and challenge Each section is supported by inspirational quotes from famous men and women It then looks at four specific examples of people who have over come challenges (Bethany Hamilton, Van Gogh, Helen Keller and Emily Blunt) The assembly closes by addressing a common student complaint- I don’t need xxxxxx so why do I need to study it. It looks at a series of careers that have been ‘invented’ since I left school in 1998

Aimed principally at KS4 and year 9 but could also be helpful with KS3 It is 18 slides long with presenter notes on the majority of slides It starts by discussing why studying is so important before moving onto a series of tips around good study habits (set goals, plan time, location). It then looks at 6 different evidence led strategies including flash cards, interleaving and dual coding The assembly closes by considering the importance of practice but also looking at mental and physical health

The lesson starts be recapping some electrode potential calculations and a method for measuring those potentials. It then introduces cells and discusses the difference between primary and secondary cells along with associated calculations. It starts by looking at the compensation point and offering students the chance to analyse some data. It then looks at chloroplasts and how they are adapted to their role before discussing the structure of chlorophyll. The lesson then looks at light absorption spectra and provides data for students to draw a graph of the absorption spectra for chlorophyll a and b. The lesson closes by looking at photosystems and introducing their role in the light dependent reaction. The lesson does not cover chemiosmosis. I cover this during respiration.
