This resource is an interactive lesson aimed at whole class or group phonics. It is a powerpoint presentation that allows children to revise phonemes and learn or revisit the sound ‘ie.’ It takes 15-20 minutes.

This is a set of three lesson plans to teach children about the fun Jewish holiday of Purim. It is suitable for ages 4-7. The plans are very detailed (9 pages plus resources). These lessons could be taught at any time of the year.
Lesson 1 contains a brief overview of Judaism and Purim. Lesson 2 focuses on the story of brave Queen Esther. Lesson 3 teaches the children about how Jewish people celebrate Purim.
Each lesson starts with a carpet session. The children then split into five groups for activities. These include drawing, storytelling, dressing up and crafts. Across the three lessons the children have the opportunity to do all of the activities. The plans could be combined into one lesson with the children only doing one or two activities. There are three differentiated levels of objectives. There is an optional 18 slide PowerPoint to accompany the lessons which tells the story of Queen Esther and how Jewish people celebrate Purim. This is a 4 page plan for an assembly (pdf) on Ash Wednesday, with a focus on the theme of consequences for our actions. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute!
