Friendship Social Story
Bella’s World of Friendship is a social story to support children who have insecure attachments with their friends/peers. Those children who become anxious about their friends liking them, wanting to play with them and be in their company. Bella explores her worries, discusses her independent coping mechanisms, rationalises these thoughts and talks to an adult about her concerns.
Confidence and Comfort Zones
A PPT and Worksheet pack which can be broken in to multiple sessions.
PPT discusses confidence, what it means to us and how we can visualise our confidence from two perspectives - social and self confidence.
It then moves on to discussing comfort zones and ‘uncomfy zones’.
What are they? How do we expand the comfort zone? Why is it important to do so?
Encourages children to draw their zones and create a plan of action to overcome their fears that currently sit in their ‘uncomfy zone’. This supports confidence growth.
My Handy Helpers
A space for a child to write down their Handy Helpers (their support network / trusted adults and people). This also provides them with a space to write down the specific ways in which their helpers can support them during their times of need.
The child should write a name on each finger and can use the palm for additional space.
Identifying a child’s support network is key when beginning emotional support work.
Coping Strategies Series: Deep Breathing
This PPT explains the power of deep breathing through scientific explanation. It teaches children how deep breathing calms us and why this could be one of the most impactful coping strategies they can use and develop.
As someone who has spent many years emotion coaching children, it has become apparent that giving them clear reasons/proof as to why something supports them leads to them believing in it’s purpose and use.
This resource also seeks to ask children to identify how their mind and body reacts to different emotions. The discussion will discover that deep breathing can support them to regulate any of their emotions.
*Note: whilst this is a scientific explanation, it is a basic explanation and therefore can be used with all ages. For younger children I tend to label the parts of their nervous system as ‘sad centre’ and ‘calm centre’. Older children can use the correct/scientific labels.

A space for a child to describe what triggers some of their big feelings - useful for children who struggle to verbalise their feelings and triggers.
The Hand-Brain Model
A PPT which explains the Hand-Brain model (Dr Siegel) to children in order for them to learn and recognise key areas of their brain, their role and how they can help to control their big emotions when they ‘flip their lid’. This model helps children to express their big emotions with real knowledge about how their brain and emotions work.
What Triggers My Emotions?
This pack gives children the space to identify what triggers them to feel angry, sad, happy and anxious. They have space to express their reactions to these emotions and then an additional space to suggest how they ‘should’ react - using appropriate coping strategies.
Bereavement Support Book - Grief Is Like the Ocean...
This is a support activity book designed to help children with bereavement, grief and loss. In here, children learn about how we can associate our feelings of grief with the different states of the ocean (ranging from stormy to calm). It explores the 5 stages of grief and provides children with the space to express their emotions throughout this difficult process.
Inside Out - Identifying Emotional Triggers
This PPT and worksheets bundle uses the popular film - Inside Out - to help children to understand what a ‘trigger’ is and how to identify them. Using the video link, the children watch as Riley is triggered to feel 5 emotions. Children must identify what those triggers are and then identify their own triggers for the same 5 emotions.
Wellbeing on the Web
This PPT shows children where they can access online support for their mental health and wellbeing. With agencies stretched beyond capacity and children struggling to manage their emotions, this presentation will show them where they can access safe places online to learn about emotions, triggers and strategies and also access online free counselling from trained professionals.
