This lesson is the first in a 3 lesson SOW that introduces the students to the origins of the tragic genre. In this lesson, students become familiar with vocabulary associated with the tragic genre, with a particular focus on Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex.

This lesson focuses on the context of Shakespeare’s works - Elizabethan/Jacobean England, treasonous plots, royal affairs, religion and witchcraft.

This lesson is part of a three lesson scheme in which students analyse the origins of the tragic genre. In this lesson, students will become familiar with the themes and characters of the play ‘Medea’.

This is a stand-alone lesson which helps students to consider how sound can be used to create fear in a piece of gothic writing.

This project allows students to work independently, and is split into instructions for 6 lessons. Lesson one and two will be a planning stage, in which the students will find their topic and research. Lesson three and four will be the writing stage, and a clear success criteria and newspaper template is provided for this. Lesson five and six will be the presentation stage, students are given instructions as to how to offer feedback verbally to each group.

This lesson teaches students about the differences between hyphens, en, and em dashes. The students will be able to test their knowledge by completing a section of comprehension, and then writing a creative piece which will be peer-reviewed.

This lesson focuses on tracking events in a text (excerpt from The White Tiger) in order to prepare students for answering language paper 1 question 3.

This lesson is on Paper 1 Question 2 - it introduces students to the question, and includes a fun extract from Stephen King’s IT for analysis.

Students will watch a video and read an article on crocodiles, and then answer comprehension questions. Students will also build better vocabulary in order to be able to complete a more creative newspaper writing task at the end of the lesson.

8 Lesson SPAG scheme plus end of scheme quiz, SOW breakdown and resources included. I used these for a year intervention group, but I 've concluded that this scheme would work anywhere from years 6-9.

This lesson focuses on the character of Aunt Lydia, and the concepts of internalized misogyny, and indoctrination. This is the ninth lesson in Dystopia SOW, though it can easily be a standalone lesson. The rest of the scheme is available in my shop for a discounted rate.

This lesson introduces students to speaking and listening as a topic, and asks them to consider what makes an effective speaker, and listener. By the end, students will write their own mini-speech on a topic of their choice.
