I have been teaching MATHEMATICS (11-16) since 1990. I have regularly been commended on my classroom displays and the quality of my resources as I feel this enriches the student experience. As a self-taught graphic designer I now produce professional quality materials for our academy/academy chain across all departments including posters/banners and promotional materials. I am currently working on updating some older resources as well as developing new ones!

BOTH set A and set B have 32 questions + answers Set A - Colour blank fraction diagram to show given fraction Set B - State fraction in given fraction diagram I have also included over 700 + pieces of clip-art. Images for every fraction up to 20th’s to use in your own worksheets or Powerpoint’s etc I started with the idea to make every possible variation you could have without reflection or rotational copies and it proved quite a challenge. After get to the 12th’s and making 183 diagrams and with thinking the 13th’s would have even more a just did a few variations for those up to 20th’s. I hope what I have done will be of use to some one. SETS A and B are part of a larger collection of fraction resources

Hopefull these two sets of worksheets will encourage student to visually compare fractions and resort only to calculation as a ‘checking mechanism’. Set C has 10 question (40 sub-questions) Set D has 5 question (15 sub-questions) Set C - Order sets of 4 fractions Set D - Compare 3 fractions against a ‘Base’ fraction and state if it is less than. greater than or equal to Set B - State fraction in given fraction diagram I have also included over 700 + pieces of clip-art. EXAM TYPE QUESTIONS + WORKING + ANSWERS 23 EXAM type questions on SIMILARITY (shapes and solids) WORKING and ANSWERS included. Each question/answer provided as clip-art so can be used in PowerPoints and Notebook files etc In solutions - Scale factor found by dividing largest value by smallest to produce a SF > 1 and then deciding whether to multiply OR divide by this value. I know not every one takes this approach. ALSO NOTE Assets 6 and 16 look like they are the same question but there is a subtle difference.

SEARCH-FIND-COUNT INSECTS(1) - COUNTING + ADDITION + NUMBER BONDS + ANSWERS + CLIPART Count the 11 different insects in the picture I have not tried this as I am a secondary teacher but I was trying to come up with an idea for a primary college that would make counting ‘more interesting’ . I thought that the main image may be laminated to allow pupils to use a whiteboard marker to cross off/ circle the ones they have found. A tally chart(s) also could be used. I have included all the insects I have drawn as individual clip-art so that you could use them for you own PowerPoints, Notebook files etc If it a popular/useful resource, I may make a series with different topics/themes. Please let me know what you think!

I have also provided these as unnumbered CLIP-ART(PDF) to use in you own WORKSHEETS, POWERPOINTS or NOTEBOOK files etc. Each questions comes with its own working/answers also as clipart linked by file name e.g. ASSET 1 / ASSET 1 ANS etc The questions vary in difficulty and include 2D and 3D examples and in some will need other skills such as circumference of a circle etc. I hope they are useful

Solve by logic/reasoning or trial and improvement OR USE ALGEBRA use as a worksheet or cut into strips or individual puzzles so each student gets a different question(s) DIFFERENTIATE by giving students some of the numbers - see answers Otherwise these are quite challenging. A starting point could be giving out a blank grid and supplying the numbers and get student to fill in the numbers in the circles before trying to solve these puzzles. Use the clip-art on your own worksheets or PowerPoints etc by overlaying text boxes. Use the questions/answers for the numbers. I was only going to do 100 questions but ended up doing 1504 (94pages x 16puzzle per page) just to see if I could ,so sorry for the overkill!

3 levels of difficultly with increasing difficulty within each level. Full set of answers. All the puzzles have been provided as individual pieces of clip-art so you can use in your own PowerPoint and Notebook files etc. I have also included LARGE grids and PIPE PIECES that can be cut out so that students can ‘BUILD’ their solutions. If this resource proves popular I will make up some more puzzles and add them to the upload. Just let me know!

A set of Christmas themed Basic and Basic+ LOGIC PUZZLES Basic uses numbers up to 20 (36 puzzles) Basic + uses numbers up to 90 (36 puzzles) THEY BOTH USE KNOWLEDGE OF ADDITION and SUBTRACTION INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED PUZZLES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE Pupils are to solve the puzzle by working out the value of each Christmas Themed Icon and use the found values to calculate the missing number. In each set there are 6 sheets of 6 puzzles. Each pupil could have a sheet each or they could be cut into individual puzzles or strips with 2 or 3 puzzles on each strip. With similar puzzles I have actually laminated them as individual puzzles and used dry wipe pens for pupils to write answers on Answers supplied

MATHS LOGIC PUZZLES with ADDITION and NUMBER BOND PRACTICE

This is a set of 3 double-sided worksheets (with answers) where the student has to connect colours in a grid without them crossing. All the squares in the grid have to be used. They then, if required to, add the numbers along each the paths to come up with a total. Some of the totals are given so they can work backwards to find the correct route. (especially so as some of the puzzles can be connected in a different way - which can be an extension task they can be given). These can, however, be given as a task without the addition element. I have found the addition element quite good as different way of counting and using number bonds/patterns as an aid. Eg. if they see six 3’s along a path they can be encouraged to say 18 rather than count 3,6,9 etc eg. if they see a 1,2,3,4 say 10 without adding 1+2+3+4 etc etc

MAYAN NUMBERS - CHANGE Base 20 into Decimal (base 10) - POWERPOINT + WORKSHEETS

(0)
This resource is intended to give students an opportunity to experience a different counting system. They should be familiar with the decimal system and may have some knowledge of perhaps, binary. The Mayan’s used base 20 (vigesimal) in their counting system with associated digits ( being made up of a shell shape, a dot and a bar/line) from 0 -19 rather than our 0-9. It really is an exercise in practicing MULTIPLICATION and ADDITION in a different format and a touch of logical thinking. I also have another resource that includes posters and other display items to go with this topic. It also includes a lot of artwork I have produced and used in my Mayan resources that you could use in your own resources if required.

Mental Arithmetic Challenge - Starter Activity - Customisable difficulty- 100 questions with answers

(4)
I usually use this resource at a starter or a settler activity with a given time limit (say 10 mins). I give advice about doing as many as possibly and in whichever order the students want. Afterward we have discussions about which they find the easiest or can do the quickest. Usually addition comes out the easiest until I suggest that if you know your tables that the multiplications are the easiest to do and probably the quickest as they don’t need working out. They get to realise that if they really know their tables that the divisions are quicker as they’re usually a single digit number to write as the answer. In my mark book I record how many get correct out of how many they do and a time if they complete them all before the given time. Most of the students really like doing this challenge. Improving their time/score is appears to motivate them. I have had quite a few students ask for sheets so they can practice at home. Use the TABS on the spreadsheet to set the difficulty by changing the MAX and MIN values for each mathematical operation, See the questions(recalculate if necessary ) and the answers for that set of questions. It may be a good idea to PRINT SCREEN a set of answers if you intend to put the answer in a PowerPoint. I usually print a few sets of answers off per table so they can mark their own. Sometimes I read them out. If you cut the answer sheet into 4 strips, these strips can be placed/matched up against each column of students answer sheet and this is really easy for them to mark. Using this technique I have marked a full class of sheets in about 5 mins or so. Another way to use this resource them would be to do them one/two columns/operations at a time and cut the time allowed.
